I was thinking that maybe this would be a good idea.

Maybe all popular games in a series should be linked together? such as Resident Evil. I was thinking don't link the current gen games together though, because that might cause frustration and/or confusion. But any games in the past gen could be linked together as a series and platform and whenever a generation moves on, maybe we could simply delete thecurrent (which would then be past)generation boards (such as Resident Evil 5 and Operation Raccoon City), which then makes theNEW current generation it's own board? .It would/could also be linked by multi-platform.

I would be more than happy (as I'm sure some GameSpotters might be) to get a list of some of the most popular game series of all time that are eligible (if that's the right term) to have their own board. Because to be fair, maybe a lot of these standalone boards not be used anyway (for example, a PS1 game called Die Hard Trilogy), because for years they were left empty. This would also mean that smaller titles could be talked about in the new specific genre boards.

Oh, I also realised that this isn't on the GameSpot forums page under Genre Forums, but I found it when I searched for Driver on the PS1 - http://uk.gamespot.com/forums/board/2000009/driving-games-discussion-forum

That's the way the IGN board are and I hate it. I prefer each game to have it's own separate board. Otherwise, the discussion gets all cluttered and confusing.

If Gamespot takes this approach, I will probably move over to GameFAQs exclusively.

I can see where you guys are coming from, but let's think about it for a second.

It would probably take the GameSpot staff a long time to create a board for every game in existance, and a lot of them wouldn't get used. For example, a game called Hour of Victory on the Xbox 360. That isn't going to get any discussion, so it would be pointless making it. Or maybe I am wrong and it wouldn't take much time to make at all?

I'm no expert, but I've used free message board services before and from what I know, it takes only a couple of seconds to create a board.

I will agree that not every game in existence needs a board, but I think they should have a board for every game for each current console (360, PS3, 3DS, Vita).

Whether it takes a long time or not is irrelevant, because it needs to happen period. If they can't live up to the quality and convenience that the gamefaqs boards offered then there was no reason for them to have split in the first place, and the community may as well move with them. Whining about ghost moderating be d@mned.

While they're at it they should archive topics for games that happen to be older than one or two years.

The problem isn't with creating boards - it's that they can't be deleted once they've been made without causing massive issues, so either they sit and waste bandwidth and server space for all eternity like they do on GFAQs, or they don't get made in the 1st place - for obvious reasons GS has chosen to just not make boards unless there is enough desire for the board to ensure they get decent activity. GFAQs boards are still accessible from the GS side, they're still mirrored, so it's not like they need to fill in the niche gap that GFAQs does for them anyway, honestly I view these newer boards as an alternative that avoids a mass of GFAQs moderations that occur because people that don't know the GFAQs rules are posting on GFAQs via GS, while still offering a less cluttered board to talk about various specific games rather than being posting in a system board, primary games discussion, or legacy game board

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting..
Time takes it all whether you want it to or not, time takes it all.
Time bares it away, and in the end there is only darkness.
Sometimes we find others in that darkness, and sometimes we lose them there again.
None can hope to convey the life-sensation of any given epoch of one's existence -
that which makes its truth, its meaning - its subtle and penetrating essence.
It is impossible. We live, as we dream - alone.
The real meaning of enlightenment is to gaze with undimmed eyes on all darkness..

If Gamespot is still planning to mirror the GameFAQS shared boards, then I fail to see the purpose of this in the first place.

if you want to post in the GameFAQs boards you can log in using your same information on the GameFAQs site but for those of us who wish the ease of using one site and the GS moderation styIe there will be the GS boards
