    New arena for Seattle

    Waiting for monkeytoes in 3, 2, 1..........

And on the seventh day, God rested. Having created the heavens and the Earth, the seas and all they contain, He ceased all labors. But the seventh day being a Sunday, and with all of His fantasy teams playing, He needed a shortstop. So God created Derek Jeter, and blessed him, and said unto him, be fruitful. And Jeter was good. Jeter held dominion over opposing pitchers (.343 AVG in 2006), was plentiful in power (14 HR and 97 RBIs), and moved over the earth (34 steals) and across home plate (118 runs). And God blessed Jeter, and sanctified him, and said to Roto owners everywhere, make Jeter your No. 1 middle infielder.

The NHL isn't as big of interest for the potential owner...it's about the NBA. Still likely they get an NHL team in my mind.

Hansen would be willing to pour $300M into an arena that the city would eventually own, and cover shortfalls in city investment. Probably the only way this gets done.

Good. The way that Seattle lost their team was BS. Seattle is a big basketball town from what I've heard.

I would love to see the Sonics back in Seattle. But not an NHL franchise. Why do we always hear about these new locales for the NHL that are not in Canada. We are capable of supporting 9 teams here, so why don't we have them. I would be fine if Seattle got a franchise through relocation, but not expansion.

Very excited about this, it's been all the talk around here the last couple weeks. We would be one of only two cities that would have an NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and MLS team, with Chicago being the other (I think, correct me if I am wrong). I was "cautiously optimistic" at first, but now I'm really jacked. This sounds like the real deal, and will require no public money at all.

I can't wait to go to a home game when the Thunder come to town. I think it will be Lebron returning to Cleveland x10

I never did understand what was so wrong with Keyarena, though I only went there a couple times at a younger age.

Very much agreed, and that we might get an NHL team would be wonderful, too. I'd actually have a team in the Western conference I could feel loyal to.

Yeah, it was a shock when it happened. I used to live up there and we all loved the Supersonics (I am a Jazz fan but adopted the home teams for each sport as well) and so even though I was back in Utah when it happened, I was sad and very annoyed. I hope they get another basketball team for sure!

Yup, especially when the Sonics were around for 41 years.

A Seattle vs Vancouver hockey rivalry could develop into some good ol' fashioned nasty hate.

Sorry Seattle, but you will never have the feeling of knowing Kevin Durant was yours.

Unless he leaves to go to Seattle, then I will eat these words.

Go to a Thunderbirds game sometime when they play Everett or Portland. They get chippy early.

Durant was a Sonic his rookie year. We already had the feeling of knowing he was ours, and then it was taken. That's worse than never having the feeling.

We need the team(s) first before they will begin building though, which could be the deciding factor.

Bring back the Sonics!!!! They should've never went away. Get rid of the Bobcats and bring back the true basketball organization. North Carolina is already over populated with basketball teams and Jordan is running that team into the ground regardless.

Yup. We also produced a lot of NBA players that are from Seattle. Nate Robinson, Jason Terry, Brandon Roy, Jamal Crawford, Doug Christie etc..

    NYC ?

KD pretty much admitted that Seattle was gypped. He doesn't hold anything against Seattle. He even wants the Kings to move to Seattle.

It was impossible for owners to make money even if every single home game was sold out.

How so? What kind of lease did they get into?

Jordan pulling an Elgin Baylor (Clippers) with his way of running things, not as bad, but with his status he should be able to pull strings better that.
