Multi-platform game comparisons are nothing new. They have been going on forever.

The oldest memories that I have of multi-platform game wars date back to the fourth generation. The first system I had that generation was the Super Nintendo, and I loved it. My friends and I always used to argue on the playground about Mortal Kombat. Well, the Genesis version had blood, and the Super Nintendo version didn't. It was a big deal back in the day, and I wanted the definitive version of Mortal Kombat. I ended up getting a Genesis and Mortal Kombat, because I loved the game, and I wanted the version that was true to the arcade.

These sorts of arguments have been going on, like I said, forever. The Nintendo 64 had significant differences from the PS1, the PS2 had significant differences from the Xbox, but what about this generation?

This generation is a bit different. The PS3 and the 360 are called the HD Twins for a reason. The guys at Digital Foundry and Lens of Truth must have some pretty good job security, because their jobs must be harder than ever. Picking out differences graphically between multi-plats this generation is like finding a needle in a haystack.

There will be times where the PS3 is better graphically, with games like Final Fantasy XIII, and there will be times where the 360 looks better graphically, with games like Red Dead Redemption. Honestly, those guys at Digital Foundry must be hard at work, because you could have fooled me. I can hardly tell the difference between the versions side by side, and I have 20/20 vision.

It's just a testament to why the PS3 and 360 are called the HD Twins. Never in the history of video games have 2 competing consoles had multi-platform games look so identical.

So this brings me to the topic at hand.

If visuals and performance are so similar between multi-platform games this generation, perhaps it would be better to look at content.

I was thinking to myself earlier today, and I couldn't think of 1 single multi-platform game where the Xbox 360 version had more content than the PS3 version.

I could think of a wealth of multi-platform games where the PS3 version had more content than the 360 version, though..... Just off the top of my head.

This is where the courageous forum posters of System Wars come into play. I will name the games I am aware of that have content differences, and I will obviously forget some, so please, don't be afraid to add games to the list for either PS3 or 360, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

    Lets start with Eternal Sonata.

This is an excellent JRPG that was released on both Xbox 360 and the PS3, although there are very significant differences here. The PS3 version, "expands on the package as a whole with new cutscenes, characters, dungeons and what appears to be even more challenge."

"The PS3 version also benefits from new dungeons and quests. These additions fit quite nicely into the game as a whole, elongating one's total play time and further broadening the already skillfully executed narrative. Two previously unplayable characters, Price Crescendo and Princess Serenade, are now playable. Although they're only available much later in the game, it's nice to see an even larger cast of characters at your disposal."

"This is clearly the definitive version of the title"

    http://ps3.ign.com/articles/923/923711p1.html

Or what about, Assassin's Creed Revelations?

I don't need a link for this one. I think it's pretty well known that the PS3 version of this game comes with a free copy of Assassin's Creed, right on the blu ray disc, a content addition that is absent on the Xbox 360 counterpart.

    Then there's Medal of Honor.

The PS3 version of Medal of Honor came with a remastered, HD copy of Medal of Honor Frontline, right on the blu ray disc. This content addition was absent on the Xbox 360 version of the game.

Has anyone ever heard of Bioshock Infinite?

The PS3 version of the game will be including Move support, a copy of Bioshock 1 right on the blu ray, and 3D capabilities. The 360 version isn't getting any of this, not even Kinect support, which seems like a missed opportunity, because flailing my arms and jumping up and down while playing the game would have made it the definitive version in my eyes.

Once upon a time, there was a game released named Bioshock.

Yes, it's the same game that is included for free in the PS3 version of Bioshock Infinite, but not only do you get a copy of Bioshock, you get the definitive version of it.

"The PS3 version of BioShock receives an exclusive mode known as Survivor, whose subtitle, "Every Bullet Counts," is an indication of how the game is structured -- and it's not simply a battle limitation, either. Unlike the other three difficulty modes, Survivor radically confines the bullets and items that you receive over the course of the entire adventure, and while you can switch to another mode if it's too hard, is designed to be challenging. If you pick up a gun, you may find only one round left in it. Plus, health items and Eve hypos don't restore as much of your meters as they would on a lower difficulty level, which forces you to ration your supplies to ensure that you can make it through battles."

    http://ps3.ign.com/articles/920/920389p1.html

Then there's that one game named Dead Space 2.

"Now this is something interesting to note from Sony e3 press conference that Dead Space 2 PS3 version will have two games on a single blu-ray disc: Dead Space 2 game and Dead Space Extraction with Move support. This will not be available to xbox 360 owners as they only get the 'start up' package. Both xbox 360 and PS3 versions will run for the same price too. Sony is doing the right thing to differentiate themselves from 'just another multiplatform version'."

    http://forums.gametrailers.com/thread/dead-space-2--100--ps3-exclusi/1082690

As we continue, lets talk about Street Fighter X Tekken.

"The Playstation 3 andPlaystation Vita versions will feature exclusive playable characters, including Cole MacGrath from Sucker Punch's Infamous series; Sony mascots Toro and his rival Kuro, who dress up as Ryu and Kazuya respectively; Pac-Man, who pilots a Mokujin mech; and Mega Man, who takes his appearance from the North American box art for the first game. Street Fighter's Dan, seen in the initial Street Fighter X Tekken reveal trailer, will make a non-playable appearance as the instructor in the game's training mode. Ono stated that there is no exclusive character for the Xbox 360 version, claiming "We do have the exclusive characters for the Sony platform. We have Cole, the two Sony cats, Kuro and Toro. But basically for the Xbox 360, we were in discussions with them (Microsoft) for which character to put in as an exclusive, but we weren't able to decide on a character because of differences in timing and things like that."

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_Fighter_X_Tekken

We definitely shouldn't be forgetting about Portal 2.

"Split-screen and online co-operative play are possible on both console versions, and PlayStation 3 gamers even have the option to play with those on PC. That's because Sony, for some inexplicable reason, let Valve put Steam on its console. It's not the full version of Steam – you get a news feed, Steam Achievements and a friends list that's separate from your PlayStation Network list – but it should be interesting to watch how this develops."

Since we're on the topic of Steam Integration being on PS3 and absent on 360, we might as well mention Counter-Strike Global Offensive.

"Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will officially feature cross-platform play between the PS3, PC and Mac, Kotaku reports. To make the battlefield fair, PS3 players will be able to play with a keyboard and mouse; to make the battlefield completely favor PC/Mac users, PS3 players will also have the option of using a Move motion controller. Xbox 360 players will be able to play with a 360 controller, and maybe a live cat if they can figure out how to plug it in correctly (Protip: tail first.)

Valve bossman Gabe Newell has said he'd like to implement Steamworks on Xbox 360, but Microsoft has repeatedly resisted, instead placing restrictions on Xbox Live functionality.
Global Offensive is Valve's second title after Portal 2 to use Steamworks on the PS3, and no one has burned down the Sony servers yet. Well, mostly."

    http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/26/counter-strike-global-offensive-to-have-cross-play-for-ps3-pc/

To add insult to injury, the once upon a time Xbox 360 exclusive, Mass Effect 2, comes with a wealth of content on the PS3 version.

"Mass Effect 2 for PS3 also includes the previously released downloadable content Lair of the Shadow Broker, Project Overlord, Kasumi: Stolen Memory and the Blood Dragon Armor on the Blu-ray disc. The Zaeed and Firewalker content is also accessible through the Cerberus Network.

There will also be exclusive free and paid downloadable content for the PS3 version, such as the Recon Operations Pack, and bundled content like the Aegis Pack."

    http://ps3.ign.com/articles/113/1132898p1.html

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, folks. I am a 360 owner, and let me tell you, I love my 360, but I can't think of any multi-platform games on it that have extra content or features that are absent on the PS3 version.

Multi-platform games are something that will always be compared amongst competing consoles. It always has been that way, always will be. We're in a generation now where hardware is so similar, and graphical / performance differences are so negligible, it isn't even worth mentioning. Sure, Digital Foundry and Lens of Truth will find some PS3 games that look better than 360 games and visa-versa, but by the looks of it, those guys must have some major job security, because they are finding needles in haystacks. It isn't like it used to be in the N64 / PS1 era, or the PS2 / Xbox era, in fact it is far from it.

The legitimate differences actually worth mentioning between multi-platform games really comes to content and features, and who is offering more bang for your buck. From the looks of it, the PS3 has that on lockdown, as I can't even think of 1 Xbox 360 game with a content and feature advantage.

If any Lemmings know of some 360 multi-plats that do have additional content and features, feel free to add them to this thread. The same goes for Cows, if you know of any that I left out, feel free to add.

Yes, yes PC master race, we know, the PC versions are the best, but this is just discussing the PS3 and the 360.

Revelations does come with AC1 on its disc, but it's just an installation file that has to be installed on your HDD. Not really complaining, but I would have liked it more if it was accessible right through the disc to save some space (my AC1 disc isn't being read by PS3 so I needed a new one anyway)

Oh and ACB has Copernicus Conspiracy DLC exclusive to PS3. It's nothing special, and quite short as well, but it is an addition, and I do believe it's still exclusive to PS3.

As for Eternal Sonata, it's true, but the cover art is really really really really really sh***y

You could have just said "Sony pays for extra content to compensate for their weaker multiplats". And you'd be right.

woah woah why is it your including completely different games that are shipped on the disc?
this should be excluively extended content in the game exclusive dlc...etc not whole games that do not extend the content of the said game they are included in with.

eternal sonata and other games where the p3 version got content not available at all on the 360 version but last I checked the games that are released along side the ps3 version can still be purchased on the 360 so they aren't exclusive they maybe exclusive pack in but still available on the 360. so how about we limit this to extended content such as what we see in tekken x street fighter, eternal sonata...etc

Its Sony's Counterattack for sloppy ports and more content

Star Ocean: The Last Hope its pretty normal at 360 but on PS3 it added more content(Dual Voices/new soundtracks)

Star Ocean: The Last Hope Internationalis an international version ofThe Last Hopewhich was released February, 2010 exclusively for the PlayStation 3. It came on a single Blu-ray Disc and contains new additional exclusive content for the PlayStation 3 such as dual voices (Japanese and English), the original illustrated character portraits for dialogues, as well as multiple new soundtracks

Play it first then Judgement later

Batman Arkham Asylum offered the Joker Maps which were fun (Not only maps, but you got to play as JOKER and use his sweet gadgets)...

The PS3 version of Metal Gear Solid HD collection had notable extras, but it's hard to get in depth. Long story short, they are minute extras, but extras. You get Analog button support (Long topic, but PS3 supports this), Transfarring PW HD PS3 saves to PSP version of MGS : Peace Walker, and More trophies. The 360 version is missing 1000 Gamerscore for some reason. Basically, the 360 version ships on two discs, so each disc contains 1000 Gamerscore (Grand Total of 2000), but the PS3 version on one Blu-Ray disc has Three Platinums and more trophies included for all three games. Again, Trophies/Gamerscore are not big deals, but to me the main reason for inserting MGS HD collection was the Analog support, which directly affects the MGS gameplay (peaking, easing off the trigger, etc.)

I'm a fighting game guy, so one game that sticks out to me is that there were differences in the newest MK9 as well.

Mortal Kombat 9 they added Kratos for PS3 gamers, just fyi.

i think that lately multiplats on the Ps3 are offering far more content than the Ps3 version and most of it comes on the disk, it's a a smart counter for timed DLC that you have to pay for on the 360, i also like there policy of adding extra content for games that release later for the Ps3, it rewards gamers for being patient and waiting for games.
