They need a lot of help on the O-line if they ever want Chris Johnson to be CJ2K instead of CJ2YPC again, they were just dominated up front which i'm sure Mike Munchack hates to see as a former o-lineman. Pass rush is the other huge area of concern, as they finished 31st in the sacks department last year, and lack any really consistant pass rusher. They have the #20 pick to work with, so I think they could get good value in a player like Cordy Glenn, or Peter Konz if they want to target O-line, or a Nick Perry if they want to bolster their pass rush. They also need to make sure they keep Cortland Finnegan, who's a FA, he's the only #1 corner they really have.

So i recorded the Super Bowl XL highlights because the day before the last SB i was watching the controversial calls to refresh my memory, they don't even mention them besides the Big ben touchdown. tsk tsk, there were about 7 bad calls against the hawks and i seriously consider if it was rigged.

I highly doubt that it was rigged, but we were certainly hosed on a number of calls. The one that gets me the most is one that most don't remember. Hasselbeck dropped back and hit Jerramy Stevens and he was tackled on the 2 yard line. It was called back for holding on Locklear. Problem is, the Pittsburgh DE was so obviously lined up over the line of scrimmage, it wasn't even funny. Then there was the D Jack TD called back, and Hasselbeck's "chop block." Don't get me started.

How the hell does Stanford Routt keep getting these nice paydays? He can't be any more than an average CB, yet he just signed a nice deal with KC.

"When you win, talk little. When you lose, talk less." I have yet to see a news article for the Pats on anything related to offseason. It is boring.

I've heard buzz about Mario Williams but I really doubt that will actually happen. I can't remember the last time we went out and grabbed a guy like him. I hope we keep both our draft picks though it's a deep enough draft to get a good corner like Chase Mannfield or Alonzo Denard, and a good pass rusher like Fletcher Cox or Whitney Mercilus or Vinny Curry.

It's the closest I can remember but even he was a little older (30) and wasn't looking for the type of money Mario Williams is said to be getting (something in the neighborhood of Julius Peppers' Bears deal).

Because he was old and was asking for a huge payout because of one season that was deserving of it and a whole lot more that weren't.

he is more than worth it. Pass rushers are expensive (watch how much M.Williams gets). You should know, paying Peppers and all. 5 years 28 mill for 18 sacks this season and no signs of slowing down

Pep is showing signs of slowing down, he was just that much better in his prime. I'm not saying it's not worth it to sign old players either, just that you might sign them to a five year deal for X amount of money per year, and only get two or three years of them playing at a level deserving that figure. I'm also not saying Babin wasn't worth it, though I do think he benefitted a lot from the defensive scheme. What I'm saying is that his sack totals before 2010 were pathetic, he'd be a third defensive end at best. When you look at a player and see that he had 2, 2.5, and 0 sacks in three consecutive years and then 12.5 sacks the next year you still have to question whether or not that good year is a fluke, and when the player is 30 years old you can't waste time trying to coach him back to prime form if it was a fluke. Peppers and Babin were the same age when they were signed by the Bears and Eagles. In seasons Peppers was averaging almost 15 sacks a season with one down season (2.5). Babin, also having played eight seasons, was averaging almost 4 sacks a season with one season where he posted double digits (12). Aside from that season he had never broken five sacks. So yeah, I think signing Babin was a risky move for the Eagles, and I think the Titans had good reason to be skeptical about paying him so much.

Oh, I agree. If you don't have Jim Washburn there is no point in signing any player that played under him (The freak and Hanesworth, etc) Babin is a pure pass rusher. He comes cheap, like 8 mill less then more complete pass rushers.
