I haven't read any reviews or read any impressions, so I don't know what people are complaining about (if they even are, but I assume they are... of course they are), but I really like it. It's set up as a handheld Paper Mario game... more accessible (not in the easy sense, but in the pick-up-and-play sense) and more stopping points, so it has a world map with individual levels and at least one goal in each. But finding hidden stuff is awesome, and I don't remember this kind of exploration in past Paper Mario games.
The battle system feels just like Paper Mario, and the sticker stuff adds a few levels of strategy that didn't exist before. I'm guessing people don't like the fact that you don't get EXP for battles, but that's fine with me, as it eliminates any need for grinding, and you since there's such an emphasis on exploration, you can avoid enemies whenever you feel like exploring, without feeling compelled to get into battles just to level up. And avoiding enemies can be part of the challenge if that's what your strategy is at any given time. You get coins for doing better in battle, so that acts as a good incentive to fight enemies to your best ability, and it keeps battles from feeling totally pointless.
And it's funny. I've laughed out loud a lot, and it DOESN'T suffer from Super-Paper-Mario-itis, which had funny dialogue but WAAAAYYYY too much of it.
