----
While mistakes on our part can happen (we're only human after all) and differences in opinion can arise, I think for the most part if it comes to actual hate, it's from people who refuse to take accountability for their own actions and the moderations they received conflict with a sense of entitlement to do as they please.
I know that sounds harsh and it's not what some people would want to hear, but there's usually a good reason (again mistakes not withstanding) and we aren't just doing what we do out of boredom. You'd be amazed how many times I've seen on ask the mods, users that are surprised and can't understand why they got penalized for calling someone stupid, or some other similar infraction.
I do get that at times the rules seem rigid, but then we are in the mist of seeing a revision to those rules. We're trying to be fair, but if someone can't be respectful to the community, they can't (and shouldn't) shift the blame to others when they need to assume their own responsibility. I know from experience. And I can tell you most of the times I got modded, I accpeted my mistake and learned from it.
Now to be fair about this, I've also seen plenty of times that people have manned up, when explained the reasons for their moderation, could move on, and in other unique cases, were very reasonable in approaching us that they could make a compelling case to get a reversal. Asking doesn't always get them that, but it always helps to keep an open mind.

[/QUOTE] That's exactly what I think. Though don't forget that these people. who hate mods and the GS ToU are most likely used to other forums' rules. Meaning they don't take accountability for their mistakes because they are confused as to why that's considered a mistake in the first place. - Oct 14, 2011 10:24 am GMTThe absolutely badass meteor explosion, which authorities claimed left hundreds of Russian men, women, and children in critical condition, sent flaming debris throughout the city’s industrial and residential neighborhoods and is reportedly the most amazing **** you will ever see.Its easier to blame a mod for your own indiscretions then blame yourself.

Do you have a special "lock thread phrase" you use when you lock a thread?
-----
One signature lock phrase? Not so much. When it came to old thread bumps I might have just made a simple note of how old it was signifying the lock. I did have a phrase I used a few times, "Remember folks, always check the thread's expiration date"
Sometimes when threads are made outside the sticky, I just make a simple note to take their discussion there. But at times I got creative too with lines like;
Look! Up at the top of the board.
It's a bird. It's a plane. It's a STICKY!!
And that's where this should have been ;)I also liked to adapt my styIe, incorporating the content of the OP when locking it. I REALLY had to go back into my post history (about 90 pages) to find some other of my favourite gems...
There was an old thread bump about KOTOR, so I capped it off with, "This thread has become one with the Force. Leave it be in peace."
In a thread asking why can't we have peace in SW, the TC makes this opening statement, "I mean we all know pc>>>consoles why must we fight? Fighting is counter productive pc gamers should spend more time keeping our rigs up to date and console players should be busy worshipping us pc players"
So I lock it with the closing comment, "aaaaaaaaaaaand this is why we can't have peace on this forum :roll: "
A user creates a list topic about what's so great about on platform, and what's terrible about the other. My closing remark, "Here's something else to add the list, 11. Generalizations make for bad topics"
In a thread avoiding a sticky that was titled, "I don't get it. Why get a WiiU?" I closed with, "I don't get why people keep creating threads outside the sticky?".
Topic that compared Microsoft to Justin Bieber and their use of celebrity endorsements, I locked it with, "I know people like to insult platforms here, but you REALLY need to tone it down there. plus no need to drag innocent celebrities through the mud"
A sticky dodging topic with the title, "Did WiiU just get pwned by GoW3?" So I locked it with the comment, "No, but this thread got pwned by the sticky ;) "
This topic asked, "Does Nintendo need to release another controller with the WiiU?", which inspired my closing comment, "What we don't need is the release of another thread when there's currently a STICKY ;) "
"This Gen ends when WiiU comes out" said the topic creator. "The Sticky is the end of this thread", I said in return.
One very bizarre thread given that it was in SW asking Health or Wealth. That invoked my response, "What. The *BLEEP*. Does this have to do with System Wars? Or even gaming for that matter? :? "
Somebody bumped a really old thread in the PC & Mac games board, so I locked it with, "Threads, like PC tech becomes obsolete. Always go for the new model ;) "
A topic with the title, "Consoles do nothing but hurt gaming", made me say "Threads like this hurt the forums and the gaming community everywhere."
Seeing this statement made in the OP, "Ugh, why I am I even trying to help you people, all you want is your lame Uncharted 6, & COD 11. Anyway for any wide-open minded people check this game out." prompted my closing remark, "Don't presume to talk as if you know what's best for the rest of us, or what games are unworthy of the industry."

RR360DD wrote:Fact is, cows hide behind exclusivesMy questions: Was it really necessary to use a sticky on every board on GS? Do you consistently post in all those boards where people would even recognize you in most of them?
----
As I was formulting the idea for this community activity, I knew I was faced with the Dilemma that now all mods are known in all boards. We each have a certain space that is our gathering spot to interact. I at first considered having 3 run at once in here, SW and GGD. But even then some mods are only active in the platform specific boards. I didn't want this being stretched out too thin, and to keep this an ongoing event, I figured one spot where all the mods gather keeps things streamlined and focused.
That's when it hit me. While the actual participation thread is in one board, all the others can have an announcement topic that lets them know about this, with the link funnels all the traffic here. While my name may not hold much meaning in OT or GGD, the SW crowd who are familiar with me would know to come.
And those pointer stickies as with the main thread title, will always get updated, so really it's not just about me but the entire moderation team across all of Gamespot in one common place for the whole community to interact with. When there's a GGD mod in the seat, that forum group will know about it but still you guys can also join in on the action. And I think it's better that way that we do this in a more united fashion, everybody meets new people and gets to know more people from across gamespot.
Hell I even made a new friend :) (knuckle taps Uprooted Dreamer)

I made a joke about DRUGGIE's last statement, then decided it was too cliched and not that funny and deleted it. Then Drac taunted me about it, then deleted his taunt. Then he reposted his taunt by quoting those deleted message statements in lieu of the deleted posts.
Hilarity would have ensued, were any of it funny.
That's all it was.
