Monster Hunter 4 Confirmed To be 3DS Exclusive (Gamespot Interview Confirmation)

Sony has responded to the shock announcement of Monster Hunter 4 as a 3DS, not Vita, game.

When asked whether Vita owners will also get MH4, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan president Hiroshi Kawano answered, "I don't know."

"You will have to ask Capcom," he toldReuters.

Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida was more optimistic. "Most game publishers operate on a multiplatform basis," he said, tossing Vita gamers a dinosaur-sized bone.

Monster Hunter became a Japanese phenomenon on Sony's PSP machine. Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, released December 2010, has sold nearly 5 million copies in Japan alone.

The 3DS will also welcome a port of Wii game Monster Hunter Tri. In order to cope with this, Nintendo has had to develop a clip-on 3DS attachment with a second circle thumb-pad.Eurogamer

Kawano also revealed that there is currently no talk of a new Monster Hunter coming to the PlayStation. Earlier this week Capcom announcedMonster Hunter 4 for the Nintendo 3DS, and, based on Kawano's comments, it is likely the game will be a 3DS-exclusive title.Gamespot

So it's only coming to the 3DS... for now.

What do you all expect? Is Monster Hunter 4 going to remain exclusive? Do you anticipate it to be a timed exclusive like Resident Evil 4 for the Gamecube? Or do you think the Vita will get its own Monster Hunter game, possibly Monster Hunter Portable 4? Sound off!

Timed. I bet Nintendo drew a contract on it to secure it as exclusive (at least for now) to increase momentum for 3DS. Monster hunter 4 G will probably be on Vita :P

I think the Vita will be getting it's own game from what the European Capcom exec said before but MH4 will be ported eventually.

I wonder if their stocks increased after it. Though that does explain why we thought the investors were being stupid by not backing 3DS when it has Monster Hunter.

Capcom's stocks fell (as did Square's) after the pre-TGS announcement (according to Reuters). Stocks falling are stocks falling. If the 3DS doesn't have a major turn around by next holiday season, I think we should expect some new management in Nintendo.

I don't think Capcom would be so stupid as to screw over their fanbase by just putting MH on the competition's handheld. But then again, this is Capcom we're talking about. They certainly done a lot of stupid things before....

I wouldn't put it past Capcom to not port it over to Vita anytime soon. They tend to do that, just look at Tri and Portable 3rd.

well this potentially timed-exclusive Monster Hunter 4 is going to be deadly for Vita in Japan.Everyone in Japan will have the 3DS as a preference and it wouldnt suprise me if the Vita ends up being as succesful as the PSP GO.

This is a huge win for the 3DS, regardless if a PSVita version is announced, since many people who were looking forward to it would have already purchased the 3DS version. And let's not forget that the 3DS has a huge price advantage. So in other words, the 3DS version is going to eat a lot of the PSVita's sales.

well the thing is we don't know if this will be Timed Exclusive or Not.

We're mainly just Speculating.

probably will be ported but this is really puttin a dent in the whole vita being the only handheld with MH games....the 3ds honestly got two so far

why do everybody care about investors now? like we have any idea wth is going on in nintendos and capcoms camp nintendo and capcom obviously talked abbout this way before any stock was fallling or etc
