Really I think either way is ok. I have mine laying down horizontal just because I don't really have the room to have it vertical. But the one that my fiance uses is vertical because we only have room for it to be vertical in the bedroom. I don't think it really matters as long as there is enough room to let it have enough ventilation.

My 360 is horizontal, takes up less room for me. Whichever way works for you is the best answer I can give.

It really doesn't matter. It's just preference. Think about it, if having it positioned one way took from the performance or caused any issues at all,MS would never get away with sayingthat it's OK to be used in both positions (which they do). People spend their days looking for conspiracy theories on things like this. If there was an issue, it would be all over the net.

And in response to horizontal being more prone to dust falling in.... wouldn't thefan keep the dust from falling in, don't you think?

The only thing I would say is that it is easier to knock over if it is stood up.

Vertical, why would you want to keep it horizontal and suck up more dust?

I would say horizontal. I work in games retail and I speak to a couple of customers each day about radial burns on their discs. I ask them if they have the console vertically and 9 times out of 10 they do. When it is vertical it is much more prone to being knocked over, or, even just slight movement around the console, this will make the disc drop and essentially ruin your disc.

False the fans on the top and bottom suck air in and the fan on the side is the exhaust

    Doggy style

    Seriously tho

You want to lay it flat (vertical) otherwise your disks will get scratched up.

I have mine horizontal, I don't want to risk it being bumped and falling over.

I heard that there is a higher risk of your discs getting scratched when you place it vertical.
