3DO was $700

Neo Geo was $600 + $250 per game

PS3 was also $600 but $60 per game

So technically the Neo Geo AES was the most expensive console of all time if you add any games. It was a good console though, was released in 1990 and could replicate 24-bit software. It discontinued in 2004, making it the longest running console available for purchase.

These were the launch prices. The PS3 obviously went down, but the Neo Geo and 3DO I believe remained the same.

SNK filed for bankruptcy in 2000 but the Neo Geo was still sold under new ownership. and 3DO also went bankrupt in 2003.

The 360 console was priced at $399($299 for the core model) at launch. Xbox Live Gold is an optional service.

I was one of those who bought a 3DO at launch :shock: though I never did the Neo Geo thank goodness, 250 bones a game pfft, I wasn't that sick.

Hmm, I think the ADAM was $799.99 at launch but I suppose that it served as a PC as well so I guess 3DO wins or erm, loses I guess. :P

Man I remember reading an EGM probably over 15 years ago that had a section on the most expensive consoles ever made, all of which were huge failures and none of which were ever commonly known. I remember one of them would have cost about $3,000 at the time.
