PS3 won't play videos from FAT32 external hard drive
- Sep 22, 2010 9:16 pm GMT
I have a 250GB portable Seagate hard drive. I formatted it to FAT32, and made one folder PS3, with VIDEO, GAME, MUSIC and PHOTO folders inside. I put a .avi file in the VIDEO folder, but when I plug the hard drive into the USB port on the front of the PS3, it recognizes that a USB device is attached, but says there are no videos inside. I am lost, I thought I had it perfect but can't find anything else out there to try.

here is my experience with the external hard drive with the ps3.
1- you need to make the hard drive size as 32 gb max as I remember so the ps3 can read it
2-the file size of the file must be less than 4gb if its more its not going to be played
3-if u have a problem with playing some videos on the ps3 there is that good program that called ts muxer which u can download it from here (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/tsMuxeR),this program convert the video file as it is a blue ray movie which can be played on the ps3.
I hope any of these 3 points helps u
