I heard that you need time for your muscles to repair them selves so they can grow. Is this true? Or can i do push ups everyday?

and If i eat junk food about 3-5 times a week, will that affect my workouts or not, or do i have to cut down on fast food ?

Ermm no. If you do more than 20 push-ups on any given day, then your arms might have to be amputated.

Push-ups now and again is obviously good but working out daily will just wear yourself out.

Push-ups aren't like weight lifting. In boot camp we did them every day other than Sunday. If you lift weights as well though, best to follow the pace yourself idea.

Body weight workouts are fine to do everyday. -just look at Hershel Walker (thousands of situps, pushups, dips, and pullups a day) It is different than lifting weights

You'll get better results by waiting at least one day to do it again.

And yes, cut down on your junk food. Protein helps a lot when you're trying to gain muscle, as does potassium.

I like how eveyone just ignores the fact he's eating unk food 3-5 times a week,

if you do that then you're wasting your time largely doing pushups, it's counterproductive to living healthy

...sort of...but sort of not. Do you walk everyday? If so, you are doing body weight exercises for your legs. You body is designed to be able to lift and move itself. Lifting weights is often a different movement with weight that is greater than your body weight...but that does not necessarily mean more or less difficult

I was thinking easier on the body. I imagine weight-lifting exercises are more efficient at isolating different muscles or muscle groups and providing resistance.

I see what you mean now. With proper form (especially with pushups)...Yes, less chance of injury b/c it is more 'natural'

He is the only player that most scouts agree could have gone straight from HS to the NFL
-that is the body you get with 1000's of reps a day...even at almost 50 years old

Pushups every day is perfectly fine. You just have to be careful if you're doing weight exercises - you'll need to make sure your muscles get time to rest. When you're only lifting your own body weight (assuming it's not too over the top) you're fine to work out as much as you like :).

And for the hell of it, cut down on the junk food!

If you're not doing heavy wieght low reps, then I wouldn't worry about the recovery thing. Heavy weight low reps does require a day's rest because it tears up your muscles more. As for push-ups, I do them every morning, so I wouldn't worry about that.
