I'm very nervous and truly terrified about even filling out the application. I need to get over this.

Anyone else experience this or something similar?

I don't understand what you're so terrified about. Don't you need money to exist?

Nope. Jobs are given to you by people. They aren't going to eat you or kill you.

Your first job experience is always a little scary. Once you get hired though you get used to it pretty quickly. Then your life will flash before your eyes until you're old and can eventually retire (assuming your generation is able to retire).

Less scary than not having any money ever. At most entry-level jobs, all you really have to do is just make an effort, and you're already better than a great number of people. Trust me.

Try not to work yourself up so much as this is something that just about everyone experiences to some extent (some are more nervous than others). Believe me, I know it's easier said than done, but you really should try and be rational about your nervousness. The worst that can happen here is that you do not get the job, which sucks but isn't the end of the world. Also, try not to be nervous about being nervous. :)

nervous is fine

but scared? Jobs are generally fun, at least in my experience.

So while you should be a little nervous, you should be looking forward to the opportunity. And you should be hoping you get a job in this economy, they are tough to come by.

Very understandable. You haven't had a job before and are nervous about this whole new experience. Once you start, you will hopefully get used to it rather quickly. Especially if the employees are nice and fun to be around, you won't dread going into work on a semi-daily basis. Also, you don't HAVE to get a "typical" first job of working fast food or maning the register. There are tons of other jobs out there, you just have to look.

I can understand you being nervous about the whole prospect. The only thing you really have to fear is getting caught up in a job that keeps you from pursuing your dreams. After a few years of that I won't blame you if you quit/get fired.

you mean the prospect of new responsibilities and duties and if you don't fulfill them you will be held accountable for it? What could be scary about that? :P

I was never scared of it, I was just disappointed as I knew I was signing away my free time. \

The only time I ever got real nervous was when I was applying for internships. That can be scary. I got one though.

Only interview where I was super nervous was about 6 years ago, interviewing for a job with this blue sky R&D team at Microsoft; would have been really cool, but I was really nervous about my ability to live up to the needs of the team. They basically did rapid prototypes of crazy ass ideas that Bill Gates and various senior executives at Microsoft had for "transformative technologies". As it turns out, the interviewers were also nervous about me, since they didn't make me an offer :P

There's no reason to fear it. You have to get a job to be successful. There's no reason to fear success.

The interviews sometimes make me anxious. What I do, if I don't absolutely desperately need a job to pay bills, I think to myself that I don't have to have the job, and I really need to find a place I'd like to work and am comfortable with. Turning down a position during the interview is one of the greatest feelings of my life. It can help build confidence to make an even better impression if you find a job you really want. Don't sell yourself short thinking you'll take just any job that comes along, unless you need to take any job you can get that is.

A lot of jobs are trial and error. Just remember to learn from your mistakes. Notepads are helpful. :)

No, you don't need money to exist. You might want to reword that or rethink what you're attempting to say because the way you said it doesn't work out too well.
