I'm very nervous and truly terrified about even filling out the application. I need to get over this.

Try not to work yourself up so much as this is something that just about everyone experiences to some extent (some are more nervous than others). Believe me, I know it's easier said than done, but you really should try and be rational about your nervousness. The worst that can happen here is that you do not get the job, which sucks but isn't the end of the world. Also, try not to be nervous about being nervous. :)
nervous is fine
but scared? Jobs are generally fun, at least in my experience.
So while you should be a little nervous, you should be looking forward to the opportunity. And you should be hoping you get a job in this economy, they are tough to come by.
I can understand you being nervous about the whole prospect. The only thing you really have to fear is getting caught up in a job that keeps you from pursuing your dreams. After a few years of that I won't blame you if you quit/get fired.
you mean the prospect of new responsibilities and duties and if you don't fulfill them you will be held accountable for it? What could be scary about that? :P
Unless you get a job at Walmart.Nope. Jobs are given to you by people. They aren't going to eat you or kill you.

I'm taking lifeguard training courses this week. I'm pretty anxious about it.the_foreign_guyWhat's so nerve wracking about that? The worst that happens if you screw up is someone else dies.

You mean they're given by beings other than people, or that they are going to eat or kill you? :o
Only interview where I was super nervous was about 6 years ago, interviewing for a job with this blue sky R&D team at Microsoft; would have been really cool, but I was really nervous about my ability to live up to the needs of the team. They basically did rapid prototypes of crazy ass ideas that Bill Gates and various senior executives at Microsoft had for "transformative technologies". As it turns out, the interviewers were also nervous about me, since they didn't make me an offer :PI was never scared of it, I was just disappointed as I knew I was signing away my free time. \
The only time I ever got real nervous was when I was applying for internships. That can be scary. I got one though.

A lot of jobs are trial and error. Just remember to learn from your mistakes. Notepads are helpful. :)
