Hdmi is slightly better, but you cannot really see the difference below 40"

I have a 42" TV and it looks exactly the same with HDMI or Component (my tv does 1080p through Component as well as HDMI).

I noticed a difference on my tv which is 50". I think HDMI looks better. Colors are more vibrant, picture is sharper, more detail, blacks are deeper.

As far as video quality is concerned, Component and HDMI are the same. They are both better than s-video, which is a little better than composite.

HDMI can carry High Definition audio, something component cannot do. But unless you have a sound system it shouldn't matter. HDMI also uses less cords so less tangle.

I notice a huge difference on my 32". Much sharper and clear, better colors, more depth to the picture. HDMI is the way to go, I'll never go back to component

Then you're kidding yourself, because there's no difference at all.

Yeah, I've seen HDMI running a few times, and the difference isn't that great. I'd still get it if my TV supported it, but it's so I just know in my own head that I've got the best. Screen resolution is WAY more important.

Yes, there is a difference. Don't kid yourself my friend...you have obviously not seen for yourself. While the resolution is the most important aspect, HDMI will in fact provide a crisper, clearer picture with deeper colors. If you think different I really suggest checking it out sometime...I think you'll be surprised if you have a keen enough eye.

One is a analog signal and the other is digital so they are not the same.

No, component will work just fine.

Actually, component will only play DVDs at 480p.

Screen resolution doesn't matter that much as long as its under 40". 720p or 1080p you can't tell the difference under 40".
