i want peoples opinions. i notice alot of games that have come out and r about to come out the majority r first person shooters. i personally dont care for first person shooters bc they are all very very similar in controls and the way the game play feels. u have to admitt that view has had the same look and feel since duke nukem or doom for pc back in the day. but there r so many more 1ps vs 3ps out that look like really great games (resistance 2, killzone 2, cod:waw, alot more) but im hesistent to buy them bc the 1ps just bothers me. games in 3ps show the character movement and surroundings alot clearer and have a different feel in every game (metal gear, gta, res evil, etc). im not starting this to piss off 1ps fans bc i myself really wish i could be more into them bc cod:waw looks great, resistnce 2 i hear is amazing and kz 2 looks incredible. so lets hear some opinions.... am i the only loser who feels this way???

I personally would much rather play a TPS than a FPS, the game feels more personal. You know exactly who you are and what you look like. That's something I like in games.

It all depends on the game. For example, mgs4 would suck as a first person shooter, and call of duty would suck as a 3rd person.. I like FPS like call of duty cuz you can aim down the sights of the gun and it feels more real

I like both, probably prefer FPS games a little more. Obviously I've played more FPSs because there are alot more to choose from than TPS but I like either.

PSN: Cap_Gun (Feel free to add me)

    Now playing:

    PS3: Skyrim; Uncharted 3; Resistance 3

PSP: SOCOM: Tactical Strike; God of War: Chains of Olympus

    PC: Crysis

depends on the game, I like both. Slower paced games are usually more suited to third person and fatser paced games are usually first, is what I find.

No, you're not the only one. I can't sync with FPS because limited field of vision, gave me sense of unsecure, can't see te character and majority FPS run & gun no cover at all. These are what made me don't like FPS even if there are new movement and control like Bioshock, Fear, etc.

TPS on the other hand almost eliminate those probs for me even if no cover at leas better field of vision is enough.

At least give a try on Tactical FPS and Kill Zone 2. Brother in Arms Hell Highway, Vegas 2 and other Ubisoft releases majority are tactical FPS. It has cover system so no run & gun and less unsecure feeling because of limited field of vision.

Kill Zone 2 has cover system although no tactical is enough for me.

To sums up, i can't play FPS if no COVER

It depends on the game. For example, Uncharted is a game that just wouldn't work in first-person, and Killzone wouldn't have the same feel to it in third-person. There are times when I'm playing a first-person-shooter and wish I could see my character, though.

well most pure-shooters should be played in first person in my opinion. But games with longer stories and such like Fallout 3, are better off in 3rd person. I'm kinda new to First-person kinda things, but I like them. And third-person games are also nice because you can see more of what you are doing, but I don't think shooting is as smooth in them.

I usually find FPS games better for the "immersive" feel which looks to be pulled off really well in Killzone 2. Seing the action through the eyes of your character is pretty cool IMO. Oh and reload animations tend to look ALOT cooler in FPS

TPS on the other hand seem better for the "exploration and environmental" feel. Being able to fully rotate the camera to check out the beautiful surroundings is great. GTA 4/Uncharted, I'm looking at you8)

But like someone said before, it all depends on the game. Some are built for one and not the other. I was getting pretty sick of FPS as well but Killzone 2 actually looks, for lack of a better word, "cinematic" actually. The visuals are one thing, but I actual love the wieghty feel and the heavy recoil of the guns. It makes the experience feel EXPLOSIVE

    Just my $0.02

FPS games seem more immersive especially games like Mirror's Edge. I only just started playing shooter games, so I am more into third person for everything because I like to see my character. Then again for games like Fallout 3 that allows you to choose, it really depends how it is handled. Third-person sucks in Fallout 3, so I went through the whole thing without being able to see myself in the cool Tetra Armor. In Oblivion also, it was terrible in third person because of poor collision detection. I really liked Dark Sector, so whatever person a game is made to be in, that will most likely be my cup of tea.

What I really hate about FPS is that in almost everyone you can look down and not see your feet. IDK just bugs me.

on the PS3, i like FPS, Third-Person Shooters, and Tactical Shooters as well... i used to hate FPS games on consoles before coz they're kinda slow ant the controls are not that sharp compared to PC games such as Counter-Strike and Call of Duty, and they give me headaches... i started liking it when i played CoD 4: MW and R: FoM.

I'm more a fan of 3rd person tactical shooters than FPS games. I find FPS games fun once in awhile because they don't require much thinking, just run and shoot (for most anyways). But I like to plan and think tactics and such. I've tried to do it in FPS games and it doesn't seem to work all too well. Especially when no one on your team is thinking the same thing lol

I do not like bombs that go blam! I don't like them Saddam I am!

    Screw you!

3rd person is great if the game developer can pull it off. dead space was great because it was 3rd person. you could get a better feel of ur upgraded armor suits and it was really cool to see your character get ripped to shreds when u died.

also fall out 3 does it the best. you can switch from 1st to third person. this is great for the fact u can go into 1st person while shooting it out, and switch to third to just run around and explore.

For some reason, I can't seem to play Fallout 3 in 3rd person. Just doesn't seem right to me. Especially for sniping and accurate manual shots.
