Back in the good old days we didn't have no stinkin' VIDEO folder. First we had to convert the videos to a certain resolution using a certain codec. Then we had to name the video something fancy like MAQ00001.mp4. Then we had to stick it into a specially named folder, something like M4V0001. This folder was in the MP_ROOT folder, however there was another folder in there as well. And some videos worked in one folder and others only worked in the other folder. After choosing which folder, then and only then did we earn the right to watch videos on the psp.
Of course these days you kids have it easy. You just convert the video right and stick it in the VIDEO folder.
So in other words, the MP_ROOT folder was used for videos back on firmwares 1.5 to 2.0 or so. These days, I am not sure if it is used at all. Maybe for videos off PSN?
