nope. only cds, and they have to be recorded in wav format for the xbox360 to recognize the cd, only then the rip option appear.

You can't transfer, but you can still listen when it is plugged in.

I do believe you press x button or something to see where you want to play the music from. You should see a few options like disc, pc, usb drive. Not sure about the new dash though as I no longer use my 360 LOL.

I think that's really stupid system. Don't see why they cant just have an option where you can transfer music onto the Xbox hard drive via usb its pretty standard tech. Its all well and good listening to it plugged in but means I cant use it for anything else and you cant save play-lists making the hard drive on the Xbox pointless

Is it just me or is the world just loosing all logic and common sense

Older iPods, download the software that lets it detect the device. It's called "Optional Media Update". In the marketplace.

iPod Touch, sorry, it's a no go. The iPhone OS will only allow connectivity with iTunes, nothing else. Even with that update.

Sorry for going a bit off topic.

Media server on your network can transfer music from your PC directly to your 360 but I haven't tried myself, I have uploaded videos this way directly but never music.

It does work. I just ripped a CD and burned it to the HD on Xbox 360. Its easy. I didnt even convert the mp3 files to wav files. You can try it my way. I put a CD-R into the dvd rom on my pc, and picked |||| burn songs to CD using Windows Media Player. |||| Then I dragged the songs from the library into the burn section, and then clicked burn. After it was done, I put the disc into the Xbox and went into the Music Library , picked CD as the source and it came up an option Rip CD. Thats it! The only thing is that it doesnt "save" the titels of songs and artist, you have to put that in yourself! Hope it works out for you!!

Microsoft is trying to control what and from where you put stuff on your 360. It's like iTunes. Want a song? download it off the iTunes store. It's to prevent pirating.
