There were so many mockup's its not even funny. Remember the Nintendo On thing?-supercharged-
I can't believe anyone ever thought "Nintendo On" was a real concept.
I knew it wasn't real the second Virtual Boy was mentioned in the video with the past Nintendo products. Nintendo would never bring up Virtual Boy.
It doesn't look that bad, a lot more powerful lol. Nintendo has done a lot worse.
Hey Nintendo fans, remember this disaster?
I hate mockups that people make. They're so lame and unconveinient yet in pre-launch hype people buy into them and think they're great. The Wii controller mockups were the worst...hiho24Yeah, especially all those ones with the touchscreens. (what works on a handheld doesn't necessarily work on a console!)

A touchscreen can work with a console. It would just make the controllers really expensive. Imagine having an iPhone-type multitouch controller. Even in its most basic use -- as an inventory organizer or as a map like how early DS games used the DS's touchscreen -- it would be really cool. It would also be perfect for rhythm games and shooters (since a touchscreen is basically a mousepad that uses your finger instead of a mouse).

The problem is that you generally need to look at a touch screen in order to fully exploit it. This is fine for the DS, since both screens are close enough to be able to quickly alternate your eyes between both, but it seems like it could prove combersume with your TV.
And yeah, there's also the fact that it would put the controller at a totally impractical price point.

I think as long as developers are aware that the player has to take his eyes off the TV, they can keep the touchscreen functions simple and intuitive. It obviously wouldn't work nearly as well as it would on the DS, but that doesn't mean there wouldn't be a tangible benefit from it. A touchscreen-based controller shaped like the PSP, but with proper controls on either side of the touchscreen (instead of a single wonky analog nubbin and only two shoulder buttons) and a screen roughly twice as big and more square-shaped could work pretty well. It would essentially replace the Start and Select buttons with a permanent GUI menu, or something similar.

I don't know. I'd probably buy it if it was real. http://youtube.com/watch?v=knP7E2xD79E

That still impresses me today.
I actually like the looks of that console in that picture. It gives a sense of uniqueness, I dislike the generic square box consoles we have right now. I hope they go with weird wacky designs like that one day. I would of wanted to keep the banana controller for the PS3 aswell.Dahaka-UKWow, I hope you never specialize in ergonomics.
Nah but seriously I remember the PS3 fake designs too, some of them were incredible, others were ?.

That looks like the vacuum cleaner of the future or something. Designed by Apple.N-K0d3RTo me it looks like a Normal Vacuum Cleaner that would currently be used just without a Handle and have it be robotic.

The fact that no-one outside of Sony ever even held that thing makes me wonder if it really would have been all that uncomfortable. It could have at least been an impovement on the DualShock (which I have NEVER found to be "ergonomic")
