PS3 and Xbox 360 Pros and cons

Most of these are valid, some are based on stories I heard over the net and Gamespot. I compiled this to help me decided on which system to get, make your guess on which one I will get.

Xbox 360:

Pros:

More games out at the moment

Better online

Cross game voice chat

Open mic system

Most shooters are better on the console

Exclusive games such as Halo 3, Gears of war, Fable

Most multi platform games are better on the system

Reporting system in Xbox Live

More downloadable games on Xbox Live

Rentable movies available on Xbox Live market place

Easy to remove hard drive

Can use a point system to purchase things from the Xbox market place

Cons:

High failure rate

Suffers from "Red ring of death"

Scratches discs

Proprietary hard drive, offered only in 20 and 120 GB's

Cant upgrade hard drive beyond 120 GB

It seems the hard drive could eventually die

It seems the system's DVD drive tray could eventually jam

Stops reading discs eventually

Can't take a off of the shelf laptop hard drive and use it with the system, due to way the system is designed

Noisy cooling fans

Power supply unit is not in the system, it is out side of the unit connected to the power cord

Power supply unit is large and bulky and may cause problems with the system if not properly taken care of

Uses outdated DVD format

Can only have two people in out of game voice chat

PS3:

Pros:

Lower percent failure rate

Uses Blu Ray technology

More worth it in the long run

Quieter than the Xbox 360

Has a higher capacity disc format that developers can take advantage of

Will eventually surpass the Xbox 360 and wii for first place

Cheaper than the 360 in the long run

Will have more games, and more exclusives than the 360

You don't have to keep replacing batteries for the controller like the Xbox 360

Has game exclusives such as, the Socom series, Metal gear solid 4, Killzone 2, Gran turismo 5, War hawk

Higher build quality than that of the Xbox 360

Built in power supply unit

Non proprietary hard drive that can be upgraded by the user to higher capacity's than 120 GB's

Any off of the shelf laptop hard drive that is a certain format, can be used with the PS3

Has a internet browser

Will surpass the Xbox 360 in graphic power when developers take full advantage of the system

PS1 games can be purchased on the playstation store, along side other games

Full PS3 games can be purchased on the play station store

Free online, that will only get better over time

Can support up to more than two people in out of game voice chat

Cons:

Playstation network not as good as Xbox live, as of now

No cross game voice chat

Have to press a button to talk in the out of game voice chat and in most games to talk, you have to take turns talking

May stop reading discs

No point system to buy content from the store, as of yet

May have a glitch that renders the system useless

why would you say 360's biggest hard drive is a con? Its 1.5 times bigger than the PS3 biggest hard drive, which you didnt list as a con.

Other than that, mostly good points.

Well, the ps3's biggest drive technically is the 1TB laptop drive,
keep in mind, the ps3 manual has instructions on how to replace the hard drive with any laptop hard drive if you want.

I switched to a 250gb HDD when I decided to install linux.

Voice Chat on all the great games online

Great Games @ the moment (warhawk, Heavenly Sword, MLB The Show, Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank)

Multi Plats atleast good games are identical or better from reviewers (CoD4, DMC4, AC with patch and Burnout)

PSN not many games but good under $10. (Pixel junk Monsters, CaC, Flow, HV Bowling, Go Skydive, and Everyday Shooter)

Blu ray Driver now with Blu Ray 2.0Live

Custom Themes for Free

Very Reliable

Controllers Same layout a plus for some

keyboard and Mouse Support - Here we come RTS games

Hard Drive upgradable and economic

Web Browser a plus when your PC burns playing High Demanding games

Easy access to PC media to transfer

Great Price for what you are getting

Con's

Kinda heavy

Delay's are frequent at the moment heres looking at you HOME

Some Multi plats run better on 360 sucks for Madden Fans like me

No in game messages or custom sound track on most games

Iam actually exited about Too Human and I can't play it

I guess the price but come on its an entertainment HUB! well worth it!

Will eventually surpass the Xbox 360 and wii for first place (This is total opinion. It could 'possibly' catch xbox by the end of this gen, but how could you possibly think it will catch wii?)

Cheaper than the 360 in the long run (How so? That totally depends on what the user wants to use it for.)

Will have more games, and more exclusives than the 360 (Based on what? I can't imagine PS3 will ever have more games than 360. At least not until the next gen begins)

You don't have to keep replacing batteries for the controller like the Xbox 360 (You can get recharge kit for 360 if you so chose)

Will surpass the Xbox 360 in graphic power when developers take full advantage of the system (Again, never seen any facts to back this up. Most technical articles agree 360 has the better graphics card, while PS3 has a potentially better processor. 360 has the better memory architecture. I'm not going to say its impossible, but its very unlikely you will ever see much difference in graphic quality between games.)

Cons:

Playstation network not as good as Xbox live, as of now (true, but adding the 'as of now' makes you sound like a cow)

May stop reading discs (again, not sure I understand this. All hardware 'may' stop reading discs. I haven't heard of any issues)

No point system to buy content from the store, as of yet (not sure why you would want this)

I own both systems.

This was a pretty good attempt, but you have way too much opinion and unfound claims. Commented on the ones I would change/remove. It seemed pretty obvious to me that you are a PS3 fan but thats ok if you stick to facts. I will also admit I lean towards the 360 for my gaming.

seriously TC, you use "will surpass" for ps3 pros as if you actually knew, other than that you seemed pretty acurate

I read the pros and cons for both consoles and since PS3 has more pros and less cons than the Xbox 360, I probably will get one in the summer.

But overall I liked both consoles not to say PS3 is better in any way but both consoles are a different type and as someone said before it depends on what type of gamer you are.

You forgot to add one special Pro for the PS3:

Games are not Region Locked. You can import PS3 games from another region (eg not available in yours) and still play them on your system without modding it.

clearly TC favors ps3.

"More worth it in the long run"is listed as a ps3 pro... that doesnt even mean anything.

not to mention apparently "blu ray technology" and "more disc storage space" is 2 separate pros.

but blu ray technology should be a con as it means mandatory installs since its so slow.
