There is nothing officially announced at this time, that is correct. However, if you venture over to the Tournaments page you will see that there is a Brain Bust II upcoming in the near future.
With the Halo 3 tournament finishing up just last Friday, I would think announcements about the mentioned tournament and others will be forthcoming sometime this week.

Bummer for us Europeans, oh well I think it could be great if we at least could join the starting round of this Brainburst, just to see how good we were, and then just denie us acces to the final. (especially this time because it's GTA which is one of my strong points)
But I guess the reason is some technical difficult with knowing who is US or European competitors.
Or perhaps Gamespot just know that we from Europe are the smartest one, and that we would beat all you americans 8-)

Gamespot hasn't actually held a SSBB tournament yet. I think what you are refering to is the community game night which it hosted by Kevin VanOrd every Tuesday night. To make sure you don't miss out, keep an eye on the community announcements for updates of upcoming game nights.

I can't register for the SSBB tournament. what gives? - I went out and bought a Wii and SSBB today, but by the time I got home and got my codes all the slots were full. I'm on a waitlist, but is there any possibility of opening any more slots?

All tournament times are set in Pacific Time (PT)

Yes you are correct, Eastern Time (ET) is 3 hours ahead of Pacific Time (PT).
