ok so i just downlaoded a prograam that tells me all these things about my computer and it says something very disturbing to me. under teh processor section it says

    Real Frequency : 1600.05 MHz
    Multiplier : 6x
    Low/High Multiplier : 6x / 8x
    Multiplier Locked : Yes
    Marketing Frequency : 2128 MHz

does that mean that each core is only going at 1.6ghz? can anyone tell me if im right or wrong please.

That multiplier should be 8x as far as I know. What program is telling you this? Go into your bios and check if speedstep is enabled. You should be able to raise the multiplier there.

ok so i went into my BIOS and in cpu configuration it said "enhance intel speedstep tech". when i selected it it said it can either be disabled or auto. it was already on auto so maybe it means its on??? is there something else i should be looking at?

It most likely means, which my processor does as well as my old pentium 4 3.6 ghz ht, They download themselves tempraily, while not doing anything heavy. I enjoy this feature, so It runs cooler while it doesnt do anything, while I am tpying this im at 1.8 ghz, qx6700 (normal 3.1 ghz), Put some load on that core, and with pc wizard should change the frequencies if not which would be highly odd, go into your bios and make sure your multiplier is correct.

WOW, thanks man, u were absolutely right. Whenever teh processor is being used about 50% it already jumps to 2.1mhz .
