It depends on the game, I think the M1 Garand from Medal of Honor Frontiline is excellent, but the Springfield with no scope form Hidden and Dangerous 2 is a real mean one, also COD: Finest Hour's KAR 98 is vvery helpful in the last level.

Tokarev SVT-40

Gewehr 43

M1 Garand

Lee-Enfield 3.03(inch). (Has a hell of a kick to it, though. The stripped back barrel stock isn't so heavy on the recoil).

Kar 98k (Much smoother reload action and the recoil is a lot less than the Enfield).

Mosin-Nagant (7.62mm)

As an Air Cadet with the RAAF in 1978, we were issued with Lee-Enfields. I have to say then, and  prior to this (growing up on British Commando comics), I thought the Enfield the most "good-looking" of rifles of WWII. There's something solid and 'rifley' about it that makes it look like it could blast a wall down (trouble is, it would take your shoulder with it).

My dad used the Carbine when he was in the Navy back in the 70's. So it was obviously a very reliable gun for quite a while.  But he was in the Navy of course, and most of their on ship weaponry was stuff towards the end of their careers.  And I still think the M1 Garand was one of the best rifles ever even though it weighed more than the Carbine.

Actually I think it was an M-14, and he only used it in boot camp.  I think the M1 Carbine was retired from active service in the U.S. military back in the 60's, but he said it was one of those two rifles.
