I am safe

I am safe

The world is safe for me
I've seen it all behind
My scenes are done, it's over
And now it's time to leave the stage

Claps are gone, I've done it
A fleeting moment in the spotlight
A fragment of the planet's memory
That's all that I have become

And there are so many who
Leave the stage just as I do
None of us with a sigh of relief
But rather a shaky croak of regret

The world is safe for me
I've done it all over already
There's no more for me to see
Now it's time to move on

Ovation has diminished, quick
And I'm left alone backstage
Staring strangely into the mirror
That I never seemed to notice before

The others who stare just as sombrely
And start on the mirror that never was there
Can only wail and cry in their minds
As we all fade away in the twilight

The world is safe for me
I've used it, but was disposed
Like a petty speck of light, I
Have disappeared beyond

From the eyes of the earth
I am as ever, no more than
A tiny speck of the universe
Floating uncertainly

Eternally
Infinitely
Invisibly
Dreamily

I will drift on.

Here I go out on a limb, my apologies if I am way off the intended reason for this poem;

The bottom line is that I have never within the confines of this union nor in my outside life come across a piece of poetry that through being indifferent stirs so much emotion even after being read time and time again. It seems as if the character doesn't seem to care anymore, it is as if he is beyond this world; he has left the stage.

I have to say that this is probably some of the best work I have seen from you, honestly, keep it up.

I'm inclined to agree with the madman above me. LOVE the ending!
