As you know from many of the titles, Link, with his Triforce of Courage, fears nothing.

Link can face powerful wizards with death-dealing spells, to screaming, humping zombies, to cute, cuddly Like Likes without flinching.

However, when someone blows a whistle, it's all over.

(A Gerudo guard who could never beat the mighty Link):
*Blows whistle* Stop right there!

What do Link and his ToC do? Why, they give up instantly and sulk to their cell. The same is true for the pathetic Dekus in Deku Temple, and the whiny Soldiers of Hyrule Castle Garden...

Why does Link fear the whistle so?

Do those pointy ears make him spontaniously go into sissy mode when they hear high frequency noise?

Was he traumatized as a child with a whistle?

I think that it is that the three godesses thought it would be funny to put weaknesses into each of the tri-force peices, the person witht he tri-force of courage is afraid of whistles, the person with the tri-force of wisdom gets captured all the time, and the person with the tri-force of power wets their bed every night.

Its just a gameplay mechanic. I don't think he really fears them, but when a guard tells you to stop, you generally do it.

I think its because he doesnt want to kill them, you see hyrule guards arent bad neither are the Gerudo's.
However in WW in the forsaken fortress the first time you get there a monster drops a lantern and then the alarm sounds, u get caught. :|

It's just like in WW. If you smash the rich man's vases on Windfall Island, he asks you to compensate him. Link is right by the door, and could run, but he would rather give away his money to someone already rather wealthy. My only comfort in it is knowing that Link has his own private oasis, and the rich man becomes poor in the end. Heheheh...

He seems to get over this fear in the Twilight Princess, as he can be seen using a grass/leaf type whistle thingy to summon the hawk. He met his fear head-on and conquered it. We could learn from him.
