minish cap help!!!

Im in a bit of a pickle right now.  I seem to have this problem with the game and I can't figure out what's wrong.  I'm at the part of the game where you're hunting for the second book so u can talk to the minish guy in the library.  My problem is that when walking through the stranger's house to get to the book, there's this minish guy who won't let you through.  I've talked to everyone in the game and searched for everything possible and nothing makes him want to move out of the way.  If anyone knows how to get past this guy could they please send me a message.  It would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
