It's a trap for the inexperienced.Â
Sort of like the Tonberry.
[QUOTE="Balmane"][QUOTE="D3dr0_0"]Another bad experience is when a Malboro appears for the 1st time in the game and it cast bad breath to your party which makes them immobile for several minutes.D3dr0_0
That annoyed the hell out of me aswell :lol:Â
It's a lot more frustrating when in FF8 Gilgamesh is summoned only to do Exalipoor to the Malboro and then several minutes later you die from being poisoned.Â
FFXII : Hunt Carrot, without Ribbon
PURE HEL.L. Its a Bad Breath spam, and sometimes it casts stop, disease or sleepaga I think. Made me rage, and draw pictures of it almost each day since it made such an impact. I now know how to draw the Carrot Malboro blindfolded

I only needed one more hunt to complete it and it was Yiazmat.Â
Mine would be playing half way through FF X. I had no idea what I was doing whatsoever and was plain confused at the time. It was my first JRPG and FF afterall so from playing FF XII next, I understood the mechanics more and replayed FF X. Much better experience ;)enz2If it's your first FF then I can understand that, but I found FFX quite easy to follow and complete :)

Definitely. I was surprised at how fast I was progressing compared to my first failed attempt :P
I do remember wandering around aimlessly a lot in Dragon Warrior, but that happens to me in virtually every RPG.Â
It's not that I can't figure out where I'm supposed to go, it's partially that I have a very poor sense of direction and partially that I like exploring.Â
I hate when games don't tell you where to go or even give you clues.... Doesn't happen often but I do remember that it happened once or twice.Balmane
This kind of stuff happened a lot more the old days, probably because the games were a lot smaller so developers would use you being lost as a way to make the game seem longer. I always hate not knowing where to go...but I love exploring. What I want is to know where I should be going, so I can avoid it like the plague and explore everywhere else. FFX2 nailed this formula cuz it always told you exactly where to go, but you were always free to go wherever you wanted.
Final Fantasy XIv did that in the beginning. That's true. FF X-2 really did use that feature to its advantage.Â
And it has become pretty rare to find a game where they don't give you enough information to know where you need to go, but it still happens. Â
ktulu007
Have you played it?Balmane
I wonder if its better now.. I wouldnt know since I didnt play the "un-patched" one :?. Has anybody played FFXIV btw?
Not to be a dick, but my worst experience was playing FFXIII.D3dr0_0
That seems to be many player's worst experience for some reason.Â
Playing Final Fantasy XIII. Thinking about the story in that game makes my brain hurt. It is so unbelievably stupid and poorly written. IT is, by far, the worst written thing to be named Final Fantasy. Mystic Quest has better writing. At least that game has exposition. Final Fantasy XIII wants to leave you in the dark as to what is toing on. It prefers to make up a bunch of terms and never explain what any of it means. It leaves it up to bnooks worth of data logs to explain everything. IF I WANTED TO READ A BOOK, I WOULD READ A FRIGGIN BOOK! There are other games that have data logs, some quiite extensive, like this one does but they tend to be supplemental to the story. Take Mass Effect for example. You do not need to have everything explained to you in journal entries. Enough is given to you in the game that you know what is going on. The journals are there to fill out the universe for people tyhat want to know more about the universe.Â
Â
Then there is the gameplay. IT is the most stripped down entry in the entire **** series. Just...ugh. You walk down extremely linear hall ways with no exploration. You do not walk around towns and talkj to NCPs because there are no towns. You are capped off in levels throughout a lot of the game to keeop you at the right level for the right bosses. You cannot level up at will. The battle system encourages you to use auto battle. "You only control one character. If that character dies, the game ends. The game almost plays itself. Screw you Final Fantasy XIIIÂ
It's because Hironubu Sakaguchi left x.x lol. Speaking of the bad writing, if you are ever bored and want something hilarious to laugh at, look up thespoonyexperiment final fantasy XIII review... it's about two hours long but you will laugh all the way through it if you enjoy cynicism.Xx_Kares_xXI love the Spoony Experiment. I have been watching his stuff since he was like...half way done with his Final Fantasy VIII review.Â
Â
P.S. his writing is much better than that of FFXIIIÂ
