So I'm going to be the last Emperor? 

This great union, crumbling at a crossroads whose highways were demolished by the sweeping changes brought about by corporate whim. Our lifeline to the internet severed, our people have diminished in numbers. The royal treasurey dwindled. Our once great armies have deserted. Where are the leaders of Wu, Wei, and Shu? Where are the outcasts who once followed Lu Bu, Yuan Shao, and Meng Huo with such rebellious vigor? I suspect age has taken them. Age and time. Too quickly we grow old and forget the dreams of our youth. Too quickly we become men--jaded by the humdrum repetitiveness of life. It is then we realize that the game we played as children was only a simulation for what our real lives would become: a hack-n-slash battle to the death.

I'll echo the sentinments of His Glorious and Most Serene Magesty with this:

"Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? They have passed like rain on the mountians, like wind in the meadow; the days have gone down in the west, behind the hills, into shadow. How did it come to this?" 

perhaps instead of a DWU continuation we should create a forum and call it Dead Warriors Society or Retired Warriors Society or Union.

We could talk about the good old days and share ideas for retiring early.

I suppose I should pay tribute to our fallen foes. (yeah that sounds weird.) Without our enemies this union would have been a dull place for what is Dynasty Warriors without chaos? Behold, the remnants of the Dynasty Warriors Alliance. With the death of the unions their name shall be wiped forever from the face of the earth. Their castles and fortresses, their encampments and ramparts are no more. Their machines of war have left without a trace. We shed a tear for you, only because we miss the glory of battle through which you were thrust from existence.

It is said that we are judged by the strength of our enemies. We almost disbanded as a union at several points to join with the DWA. Our triumph over them is one of our crowning moments of awesome, but it almost seems now like a pyrrhic victory.

yep... if i recall i was recruited from the DWA. i was looking online for someone talking about DW and Google brought me there. actually, brought me back to GS. i had an account here from years before, but didn't ever come back after creating the account. i think i created the account to download a patch or something. 

but yeah, i'm guess more than anything else it was the decline in the use of forums that killed the DWA--and will soon kill the DWU. in this form at least. i'm thinking Steam with its notification system and ease of commenting will help get us back in the business of cracking jokes about irrelevant stuff.

Well, it will be dead in a way, no more Emperors, no more landed nobility or monarchy, it will be anarachy. Sweet, precious anarcho-libertarianism. We should probably convert just to keep the threads around. 

Our lord has settled the empire, and his merits are manifest to the whole world. Moreover, he is of the Dynastic Family and it is fitting that he succeeds. Now that the great announcement has been made, such self-abnegation is impossible.
