Although Bruno has an oblivion thread (nice project bruno) this is a discission thread and an info thread (SKYRIM)

So heres some info on Skyrim and Ill let some general discussion begin.

Oblivion: What character is your primary one?

I got a Breton Spellsword lv 40 Vampire.

Guildmaster of all guilds and created a buttload of good spells.

Strongest one seems to be 70% shield for 20 seconds.

What characters you guys got?

I think you got us confused with the Elder Scrolls Union. (smart-ass comment of the day)

Anyways, I was addicted to TES for like 2 or 3 months then just flat-lined. Maybe I overdosed. I am interested in how the new one come along.

Whats your favorite races?

Personally its Breton for me because of their high magika and almost no weaknesses and they have a cool lore. But High Rock is so small....

Bethesda made these guys the joy of the party :D . IRL Buttman is a Nord.

And Skyrim is pretty big thats another point for Nords.

Esentially there starting stats and special skills make Nords good warriors. All aroudn their beast :D

But hey for 20 second imobilization my Breton kicks ass :P

I find it so weird how Argonians conquered Morrowind and secceded from the empire!

I think Black MArsh expanding over Morrowind is pretty cool, but seceding from the empire is stupid, that wont last

my favorite race is dark elf. i built a level 75 dark elf female and did almost all of the side quests. then i got to the end of the main quest and quit. i was playing with Oscurio's Oblivion Overhaul too. made it a lot more challenging.

hopefully the AI is better in Skyrim.

Also with minning, cooking, and farming AI will look like they have jobs and cities will have their economies based on wood, fur, et etc.

So if you were to take down a mill, that would severly damage their economy.

Also I'm currently working on a Stealty Dark Elf. Marksman (poison) and stealth to start with, when im finally caught I switch to melee with some Destruction to help me out.

Dark Elf seems most sutiable for the sneaky IMO.

get your game installed with a default installation and i'll walk you through step by step.

as for skyrim and radiant AI, Oblivion was "supposed" to have radiant ai.

as for economy, etc here's what i see really happening. there will be quests to detroy a particular mill or mine or whatever. it will be hard-coded into the game so that when you do 'X' you get 'Y' result. on the other hand if you do 'A' you will get 'B' result. end of story. i highly doubt they will build a ROTK quality resources system into the game. more likely it will be ultra-simplistic and contrived. in other words i doubt it will have an economy simulation. more likely there will be a few quests based around screwing with the "economy" of a particular faction and all the results will be hard-coded and simplistic. if not i will be impressed.

Some new info on skyrim

New, updated Radiant AI: You won't find townspeople loitering aimlessly in town squares anymore. Each citizen performs tasks that make sense in their environment. To impart the towns and cities with a greater sense of life, Bethesda has populated them with mills, farms, and mines that give the NPCs believable tasks to occupy their day. The improved Radiant AI technology is also more aware of how a citizen should react to your actions. As you perform tasks for them or terrorize them by ransacking their home, the NPCs develop feelings about you. If you're good friends with a particular NPC and barge into his house during the middle of the night, he may offer you lodging rather than demand you leave the premises. If you swing your weapon near an NPC, knock items off their dinner table, or try to steal something of value, they'll react with an appropriate level of hostility given their prior relationship to you.

If you drop a sword on the ground near NPCs they will react to that as well, such as a child might try to give you the sword back or two men will fight over it. (Not only swords)

Radiant Story: Many quests are still completely governed by Bethesda, but the Radiant Story system helps randomize and relate the side quests to players to make the experience as dynamic and reactive as possible. Rather than inundate you with a string of unrelated and mundane tasks, it tailors missions based on who your character is, where you're at, what you've done in the past, and what you're currently doing. Radiant Story is also smart enough to know which caves and dungeons you've already visited and thus conditionalize where, for instance, a kidnapped person is being held to direct you toward a specific place you haven't been to before, populated with a specific level of enemy. Skyrim also tracks your friendships and grudges to generate missions. Do a small favor for a farmer and it may eventually lead to a larger quest
