Just curious about this, how many people have discovered and joined a union as a result of it being affiliated with a union of which you are already a member? More often than not, being affiliated with a union is nothing more than having a link stuck in a thread that people never look in more than once, if at all. I find the practise to be ineffectual.
I think the way unions attempt to go about affiliations makes it pointless. I recently affiliated with a designing union however and we made a deal to where they will make union designs for us and we give them advertising whenever posting any image they made for us. Also we're planning on doing some inter union events between both unions in the future, so as you can see, the affiliation so far is working pretty well. It's based on how you go about it. Too many people never do anything except for what you mentioned.
I'd have to agree. I've never found them to be anything more than just a formal agreement. It still doesn't do any harm though, and does show that unions try to co-operate with each other.
I used to use AON's affiliation with SonicSpot to traverse between the two easier. But now, I have direct links for all those places, so it matters not to me. :P
