During my lurking moments, I've encountered the mythical status of Co-Leader. A position unofficially above officers, but officially an officer. I have yet to determine wether this position is a union job, a status symbol, or an actual position.

Thoughts?

I've always been against the thought. Unless GS one day offers such a position, it doesn't exist in my eyes. Having a co-officer in my eyes just makes one officer seem more important than the others. They're still officers however and the person who has the true power is the leader regardless, so unless it's that two people have access to one account and they're both officers then such a position doesn't exist.

It always seemed like more of a pointless honorary position to me.

Pretty much. If you want to create an honorary position at least make it be like your senior officer or something that makes more sense rather than co-leader.

I've never liked the idea of a Co-Leader. Not only is the position the equivalent of an officer in reality, but it weakens the power the Leader has over the union, and it creates a complexity in the decision making process (anything the Leader does, they must discuss it with their Co-Leader). I've seen the idea implemented in a few unions, but I don't think it really makes much of a difference.

I endorse the idea, provided they are well-versed in the union topic, and have been a part of the union at least as long as the current leader. My co-leader, chang_1910, is a great lady who I deeply respect. We've been friends for a long time, since my second year at the union. I consider her my go-to if I'm not sure of what to do.

Well, the difference being that we switch off with the leader position when one of us gets swamped with work.

Im with both of you I perfer the idea of a Commanding Officer (well we are still using military terms right?) its more of someone who is more like a right hand man

You can do that with a right hand lady too.

Let me put this a different way. All of the decisions I make have to go through her, first.

My idea: All officers get a say in all decisions, however the leader gets the final say in everything. This is the system that I've always enjoyed the most.

I tried it once I think. Yeah doesn't really do much, just a bit of a status symbol tbh. Although to be honest, being an Officer is just a bit of a status symbol too imo, at least at my union. Still, I scratched the idea of having Junior/Senior Officers because it honestly doesn't really do much, just an opportunity to have 'promotions'.

I haven't seen a union with official Junior/Senior distinction except maybe Final Fantasy Experience.

That's not an official status. It's unofficial. We don't have a Database stating this user is the noob officer.

I've never been too fond of the idea of co-leader because GameSpot is not properly set up to handle them. One member will always have the full command over another no matter what they do, and therein lies the problem.
