I always wanted to make a work discussion thread, but never bothered with it. I thought that there was a thread about it somewhere, but I could never find it.

Currently unemployed and trying to find a job.  The economy still sucks even after all these years.

You'd still work. You'd be looking for something to do.

I see. I personally wouldn't... I'd do things I enjoy doing that don't involve having to work.

You'll be bored just doing hobbies alone. Waiting for the weekend to hangout with friends.

Nah, I wouldn't be bored... my hobbies are more than enough to keep me occupied as I'm easily entertained. Honestly speaking I'd be thrilled if I didn't have to work for the rest of my life.

I'm sticking with my unemployed life until I finish my studies. I tried that 'part time worker, while still in school' bit, but I didn't like it. And it just wasn't worth it.

I'm currently on an internship at a Japanese electronics manufacturing company. Only one week there so far but I've already learned a few new things... hoping to take many things away from this experience at least.

Nope -- The job I had was in fast food. A monkey could do the job I had. I was honestly surprised I got something so quick and without any trouble at all. Once I go through internship, then finish, I know I'll find a job within my field.

I hate welding, so boring. But for several weeks, I found a fun job where all I did was cut metal and put it in a pile all day, wished they kept me doing that more, better than what I do now.

I may be doing co-op this coming Fall semester. I've been putting consideration into it, and things are looking as though that may occur! I'd be living on campus as a full time student and only have to take a single class. Meanwhile I'd be getting paid for working full time at my job and get some work experience! The pay's not that bad either, it's on average around $16-$18 an average for a CS co-op job.

What kind of system is that? I don't think we have anything like that at my university.

For a semester or two you work for an actual company instead of taking classes to get some work experience.

Oh, sounds like the internship I'm doing now then. Is the pay an allowance or a salary? What I'm getting here is an allowance which is roughly a third of the salary I could expect if I was holding this position for real.

It's an actual salary from a real company. I'd be getting payed around $16 - $18 hourly and be working full time for one semester.

If this happens then I'll be going to school, but not taking any classes for a semester. I'll be behind by a bit, however it'll be worth it in the long run since I'll already have a company that will want to hire me the second that I graduate school (that's usually what happens). And yeah it'll be such a nice semester. There won't be the stress of class and I'll be in college with money... Something that's usually unheard of lol.
