[QUOTE="_Doomsayer_"]Just started listening to The Haunted recently because I had no idea there were ex members of At the Gates in that band. Really diggin their stuff right now._Doomsayer_

I never heard of them until now. But I do like At the Gates so I'll have to check them out.

Wow, this thread works! :D Some of their songs have more melody than At the Gates, but they're still pretty good.

I like The Haunted. It's a lot more Thrashy then anything by At the Gates.
#52 Posted by _Doomsayer_ (18616 posts) -
Yeah The Haunted is great. Been listening to Obituary's new one too. Evil Ways really got me hooked.
#53 Posted by lancelot200 (61977 posts) -
I also like Obituary. I remember seeing their new video. I didn't know it had video game footage.
#54 Posted by _Doomsayer_ (18616 posts) -
So for In Flames fans...Which do you like best- old, new, or both? Personally I like all of their music.
#55 Posted by lancelot200 (61977 posts) -
I'm good for any of their music.
#56 Posted by _Doomsayer_ (18616 posts) -
Anyone else like Darkest Hour? I think they're pretty good. Another newer band I liked, Light This City, just broke up not too long ago, which kinda bums me out since I had a chance to see them in concert but couldn't because things came up.
#57 Posted by lancelot200 (61977 posts) -
Darkest Hour is great but Light This City is not good.
#58 Posted by _Doomsayer_ (18616 posts) -
I really like Darkest Hour. They're playing July 15 with At the Gates. From right now it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to make it. =/

I was bored last night so I was watching music videos on demand. I was watching a Slipknot one and I don't know what you guys think but for a band with an excessive ammount of members, they aren't that talented.
#60 Posted by lancelot200 (61977 posts) -
There are four members of Slipknot that doesn't do anything.
#61 Posted by _Doomsayer_ (18616 posts) -
To be honest I like to listen to Slipknot, even though I don't as much as I used to since they have nothing new out, but most of their members just pretty much screw around on stage. I think Joey Jordison is a pretty good drummer though.
#62 Posted by lancelot200 (61977 posts) -
I also like to listen to some Slipknot songs. :P
#63 Posted by kingkilla3 (17128 posts) -
I haven't listened to Slipknot properly in years. I'm usually listening to Slayer, Kreator, Behemoth, Wintersun, Pantera, Morbid Angel, King Diamond, Sepultura, Megadeth, Opeth, Iron Maiden, At the Gates, and Immortal.
#64 Posted by lancelot200 (61977 posts) -
Are you one that downloads entire discographies?
#65 Posted by kingkilla3 (17128 posts) -
Something like that, but I buy the CD's.

I like all but prefer older.

I don't think that I've listen to them much. I know the name with certainty.
#70 Posted by _Doomsayer_ (18616 posts) -
So I see there are a lot of Soulfly/Sepultura fans around here... What did you think about Cavalera Conspiracy?

I'm not sure how old school you are. Are you into the extreme like Venom? Do you know many of the NWOBHM or Bay Area Thrash?
I'm starting to like godsmack a little.Racer_XLR
I used to be big on Godsmack before I moved on to Heavier stuff.

so many Godsmack songs sound alike to me. I do mainstream metal, not really thrash. I do branch out to alternative stuff like Alice in Chains, STP, etc every once in a while.
#83 Posted by lancelot200 (61977 posts) -
Yep. Godsmack has that repeative formula.
#84 Posted by _Doomsayer_ (18616 posts) -

It's a good thing they sound good to start with, but I got tired of listening to them a while back. Might have to start again since it's been a while. Listening to Corrosion of Conformity right now and I absolutely love them. Big fan of Pepper Keenan.
#85 Posted by _Doomsayer_ (18616 posts) -
I just heard Soulfly's new song, Conquer, on Headbangers' Ball, and it sounded pretty awesome. Also heard a new song from Slipknot, All Hope is Gone, and it sounded good.
#86 Posted by lancelot200 (61977 posts) -
I heard "All Hope is Good". It's good.

I hate Godsmack with a passion.....one of the worst bands ever IMO.

I'm starting to get into alot of old-school hip-hop now.

I listen to some alternative hip-hop (i.e. Subtle, cLOUDDEAD, 13 & God)

That song to me sounded much heavier than anything on their last album. I have high hopes for the next cd, though they have been spending quite a lot of time with side projects...

Only Stone Sour. I know Joey had some producer roles and touring drummer.
#92 Posted by _Doomsayer_ (18616 posts) -
Yeah Murderdolls didn't catch on as well as Stone Sour did, but I enjoyed them nonetheless. I think Clown had a few- I think he produced Gizmachi's album, and wasn't he in To My Surprise?
#93 Posted by tmaclabi (17108 posts) -
I like the Used, they are really cool!

I thought Murderdolls was a long time a go. You are right about the Clown side project.

From what I've heard it sounds like every other album from Soulfly, so that's either good or bad depending on whether you like them or not (good for me), and from what I've heard from Kataklysm I liked.

i'm really getting tired of the top 20 radio music these days and I've listened to my IPOD all too often. I need to listen to a new genre or I may go a bit bonkey.
