Music Discussion

This is the place to discuss music. So have at it.

I shall start with this.

It has to be the most metalist metal that ever metaled.

#2 Posted by lancelot200 (61977 posts) -

I was thinking about making a Rock/Metal thread. :P

My friend has always said that Power Ranger had very heavy music. Like Mega Man which had 8 bit metal music.

#3 Posted by Marksman2200 (23037 posts) -
Did you see the riff, that had major metal.
#4 Posted by lancelot200 (61977 posts) -

I don't play guitar but I heard it very well.

Does this make you a metalhead?

#5 Posted by Marksman2200 (23037 posts) -
I'm no metalhead. I mostly listen to stuff from the 60's to the 90's
#6 Posted by lancelot200 (61977 posts) -

That's very broad. Madonna to Elton John to Led Zeppelin to Rush to In Flames to Emperor to...

Do you mean like the mainstream stuff?

#7 Posted by Racer_XLR (21663 posts) -
Well, I've listened to some of the songs Metallica had to offer and I must say they were quite good. After... about 4 years of saying I dont like heavy metal I'm starting to like it a little bit. :P

I don't mind heavy metal, but it's not my favorite kind of music. Metallica is alright, they are one of the few I'll listen to sometimes.

lancelot200
Yes very broad. One of my fav bands is R.E.M.
#10 Posted by lancelot200 (61977 posts) -

Some metalheads would feel insulted that you call Metallica metal.

Unless you are talking about the music before the Black Album.

What is this Black Album you speak of?

I'm ashamed to admit it now, but I was the same way. When I was in 8th grade (about 4 years ago now) I was against music that swore, hated metal, even *Gasp!* System of a Down (they're among my top bands). Now I listen to SOAD, Nirvana, Metallica, Pantera, ect. all the time. It's funny how things change.

I've never listen to much R.E.M. I just know that one song. Losing my Religion Maybe I know more but, I just don't remember.

Right now I just like Guns N Roses a LOT
#17 Posted by lancelot200 (61977 posts) -
I hate Axl a LOT.

Yeah, older Metallica was awesome. But if you want to discuss metal then listen to some of these bands: Mastodon, Electric Wizard, 3 Inches Of Blood, Pig Destroyer, The Sword, and Children Of Bodom.
#20 Posted by lancelot200 (61977 posts) -
I hate Mastodon. Not hate but, I don't get what people see in them,
#21 Posted by worthyofnote (21896 posts) -
I listen to a bit of everything. From John Coltrane to Dio. Wu Tang Clan to James Brown. Eric Clapton to Eminem. Breakbeats, eurobeats, j-pop, techno, classical, etc etc. I'm eclectic when it comes to music.
#22 Posted by Racer_XLR (21663 posts) -
Ah, the Wu Tang Clan. I like them, I haven't listened to much of there songs nowadays. In fact, I dont remember any of there songs. :?

I listen to almost anything except rap and hip hop. My favorite band is Iron Maiden. I was at one of their concerts almost 3 weeks ago. Absolutely phenominal
#26 Posted by lancelot200 (61977 posts) -
I would love to go to an Iron Maiden concert...
#27 Posted by dukebd699 (12054 posts) -
They said at the concert they will be going on tour again when they start their next album I know I'm going to be going again. I would recommend going especially if you like the music because tickets aren't too expensive($85 a ticket for ground tickets) plus the show is amazing. The person I went with only likes Run to the Hills out of the 5 songs from them he's heard and even tough he only liked about 3 or 4 songs at the show said the show was so amazing that it was worth it.
#28 Posted by lancelot200 (61977 posts) -
They don't come close enough to my town. So I'll never see them unless I go to a big city in Canada.

Maiden is alright. I bet that was a cool concert.

Yeah, I don't like to listen to alot of mainstream rap nowadays. Most of it is mindless dribble.

Got the last CD I needed, Lunar Strand, to complete my In Flames collection Friday!

That's always an accomplishment when you have the complete discography of a band.

I never liked them too much. They have a few good songs tough.

I'm doing that with Iron Maiden. Live and all. My guitar teacher's dad actually has a record from the stuido that Iron Maiden first recorded at. If I could get that somehow it would be amazing. Only problem is it's worth thousands of dollars. He stole it tough so I might not have to pay full. He was nice enough to let me listen to it tough. There's a few songs they haven't released yet then some of their stuff from the late 80's were originally on it.

#47 Posted by _Doomsayer_ (18616 posts) -
Just started listening to The Haunted recently because I had no idea there were ex members of At the Gates in that band. Really diggin their stuff right now.

Wow, this thread works! :D Some of their songs have more melody than At the Gates, but they're still pretty good.
