There's gonna be a new type of monster released in the TCG next month called Xyz Monsters (not to be confused with the XYZ series of X-Head Cannon, etc., those are a totally different thing). To summon those you need two face-up monsters of the exact same level, and you summon an Xyz Monster of a rank equal to that level. Xyz Monsters don't have a level, but a rank. It's not nearly as complicated as Synchro Monsters, either, and they're abilities are pretty good, too.

But to answer your earlier question, J, yes, they're still releasing cards. They have a new booster set out at least once a month, and new decks out every once in a while.

On the contrary. It's the top selling card game in the world. Even more so than Magic: The Gathering which was debuted at least 6-7 years earlier. They come up with new "themes" for cards, it's hard to explain, but if you pick up a few booster packs now you can tell there's what's called "Archetypes" that are really played up,

Oh there's still decent balance. I will put it this way. Blue-Eyes White Dragon is a Normal Monster. Meaning it doesn't have an effect. To this day it is still the strongest Normal Monster in the game. And with all the support for Normal Monsters and even the Blue-Eyes White Dragon itself, in the right deck a Blue-Eyes White Dragon is just as much to fear now than it was in the old days.

Ok good, that means perhaps my old deck could still put up a fight against some of these newer decks. :P I have the sky dragon god card as well but never knew how to use it, that's about when I quit playing the game.

It also doesn't have a version of it legal to actually use in a duel. Mostly because it has alternate coloring and it also doesn't even have effect text so you can't properly play it unless other players agree to it. But yeah, cards like Paladin of White Dragon, Kaiser Sea Horse, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, anything else that helps easily summon Blue-Eyes, and cards that benefit from having a Dragon out like Wingbeat of Giant Dragon, Stamping Destruction, etc. and the card Burst Stream of Destruction are deadly. A deck nowadays should not revolve around a single monster unless it has the support for it, but a sort of strategy.

If you don't know Burst Stream of Destruction, this is it: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Burst_Stream_of_Destruction

Typically RL duels have 8000 LP, but even then if you have the right cards it's still a duel-ender. My deck revolves around EARTH-Attribute monsters, with this monster being one of my best:

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Ancient_Gear_Gadjiltron_Dragon

It's a complicated ability but for the tl;dr, your opponent can't activate spells or traps if you declare an attack with it until after its attack, and it gains abilities if I sacrifice specific monsters to summon it, and I have 2 copies of each of the monsters that I can sacrifice to give it extra abilities. It also has some good support, can be summoned fairly easily.

Oh I remember it being just 4000 back in the day. :? I don't think my deck ever had any specific attribute monsters, I would just use whatever monsters were strong for the most part.

Nah, it's actually always been 8000, just the anime has used 2000 and 4000, and the manga has done the same. The card game itself has always used 8000.

When I played, we used 4000 in the beginning, when people only used magician of faith and man-eater bug as their only effect monsters in their deck. I played Yu-Gi-Oh! a bit during last school year during classes. I'm probably going to quit playing again, because I'll be moving soon.

That sounds about how the games were when I played. :P Now it's so complicated from the sound of things that I couldn't get a card down without needing 4 other cards already played.

Really? Because I take that as a compliment. But yes, In addition to Fusion Monsters and Synchro Monsters, there'll be new Xyz Monsters in the Extra Deck (the new name for the Fusion Deck since it's not just Fusion Monsters in it).

Newer booster packs (anything from 5D's era) are $4 a pack, which is the same all booster packs used to be. In some stores, you can find older booster packs from before 5D's era that were dropped in price from $4 to $3.

Buying decks is cheaper than it used to be, they used to be $12.99 to $14.99 a deck, now it's usually $10.99 or $11.99. Booster packs have always been $3.99.

No, they've never been more than 15 bucks. Although a few highly-sought-after decks have increased in price online.

I think it was the Exodia set. It was thhe most sought-after set of cards for a while. Although back in the day cards like Harpie's Feather Duster, Mirror Force and Raigeki, which are all extremely powerful cards, were worth a lot of money. An original copy of Mirror Force is still worth a lot, even though it's been reprinted as a common several times.

The limbs aren't worth much anymore, they were reprinted as commons, only the head is still rare enough to be worth a lot.

I really don't know. They are old like from 5-8 years ago. If I ever get around to looking at them maybe I'll check that out. They have no value to me so money sounds nice. :D
