Hold on to your current GPU a little longer. While the 7970 is a steal at its current price, the RX-290 is soon released... :P

I saw the picture with those cards and I'm subscribed to a cool guy on youtube, he used to do motherboardsorg, now it's pctomorrow, he went over the cards. What you think the 290x will be priced at? I also wish it had more vram :/ it's supposed to be their best card and it only has 4gb of ram, why not a 6gb one to?

6GB will come as well I believe. I don't think more than 549$, hopefully not more than 499$. 2nd and Wis3boi, can you guys PM me the links to the character mods you got and something like a tutorial on how to install and use them with Steam Skyrim? That would be great if you did, seeing as this board might not survive until the end of the next month :(

It's a maybe, I definitely couldn't afford that card now. It would take awhile at that price. I do want it though. But that price point is a bit too high atm for me. Considering options: I can get a 7970 and 3570k/mobo for a bit over $600

I've heard of it doing that on a single card as well.  We're in for a beastly offering from AMD

Would have liked to get that other 1080p monitor still (yes it's bugging me a little :P), oh well. but just messing around. going from 1920 x 1080, to 2880 x 900 gets me about 30 fps in skyrim

, also puts me close to maxing out my vram. Skyrim is the only game so far to break 2 GB for me. And for the record, I have 167 active mods >_>

seeing the leaked price for the R9 290x is out of my league, I think i'll stick with getting a 7970 or a r9 280x

Whichever gives you most bang for buck right? Wonder how the prices for nvidia cards will fall with the release of R9 and R7 series from AMD.

I saw a rumor that had a r9 280x priced at $250 USD that would be a steal, but i highly doubt that is true I wonder to, probably won't get the r9 280x until later this month (near the end) so I guess I'll have time to see before jumping the gun =P

It's possible, it is the 7970 after all...

took me a while to notice that when I updated the NVidia drivers and reverted, the new global setting was for everything to run off of integrated graphics. it still ran nice, but once I switched back, it ran a lot smoother.
