I'm curious to see if there's any correlation between atheism and a particular brand of politics. While most of my Christian friends are varying degrees of republican, I'm not sure if theres necessarily a similar relationship with atheism.

I don't want any sort of political debate going on, this is merely saying your political views.

And I know the poll is really black and white, I just want to get a general feeling where people lie in terms of "left and right".

______

I'm a mixed bag. Socially I could be considered more libertarian, liberal, whatever. Basically, in the private lives of citizens I don't think the government has much say at all. Economically I'm slightly left of center. I don't think an unregulated economy will provide for the common good well enough, thus I think a bit (but not an extraordinary amount) of regulation is necessary.

I guess I could say I'm independent, with very slight democratic leanings.

Good question. I'm a typical Southern Democrat. Pro-Choice, Separation of Church and State (of course), pro social programs, for reasonable gun restrictions, think we need more regulation in business, maybe like back in the late 80's early 90's. Pro stem cell research. And my most recent pet peeve is the "bigger government" whine from the GOP. Do these people realize there are freaking 100+ million more people in the US than in 1970. When my company goes from 200 to 300 employees we have to increase infrastructure.

I'm a democrat because social views are more important to me compared to economic views.

I got mine from the World's Smallest Political Quiz. Speaking of politics, I completely agree with you on closing Guantanamo and ending torture. It is the most immoral practice our government actively engages in.

Center-left by British standards, so probably a lot further left by American ones.

Here in the UK, I support the Liberal Democrats...and the Conservatives.

Anything but Labour and Brown.

According to the World's Smallest Political Quiz:

The RED DOT on the Chart shows where you fit on the political map.

Photobucket

Your PERSONAL issues Score is 30%.
Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 80%.

According to your answers, the political group that agrees with you most is...

Photobucket

CONSERVATIVES tend to favor economic freedom, but frequently

support laws to restrict personal behavior that violates "traditional
values." They oppose excessive government control of business,

while endorsing government action to defend morality and the

traditional family structure. Conservatives usually support a strong

military, oppose bureaucracy and high taxes, favor a free-market

economy, and endorse strong law enforcement.

Might as well try the other one...

political compass 2
Your PERSONAL issues Score is 100%.
Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 40%.

Accordingtoyour answers, the political group that agrees with you most is...

button liberal

LIBERALS usually embrace freedom of choice in personal

matters, but tend to support significant government control of the

economy. They generally support a government-funded "safety net"
to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation

of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations,

defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action

to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifesty1es.

I am a Libertarian and I vote that way. I would like to see most institutions disassembled. Humanity has had a dense history of authoritarian regimes. I think its about time Anarchy gets a chance to rule the populaces.

Uxal

Long live anarchy!

... but seriously, I'm extremely libertarian. No one has the right to force another to their will. If anything, I worship the human spirit, which is the mind and its free will. Live free, die or submit to tyrannical government. The only role authority should ever have is to protect the lives, properties and rights of every individual. Unfortunately, there's never been a government in history that has done that.

BTW felix, there's no such thing as a victimless crime.

I agree with you about the role of government, but I don't think there are many societies out there that are closer to that ideal than America. What do you think?
