The weakest cases for atheism

'Seeing is believing.' Simple refutation: I don't see you, therefore you don't exist (stolen from Theokhoth).'There is evil in the world.' While it does refute a god who actively intervenes to uphold peace (or at least perhaps the person's version of peace), it does not refute a god to let a human suffer the consequences of his or her actions. Now, whether or not those consequences should be left up to eternity is another debate.'There is no objective meaning/morality in the world. Nothing's for certain.' Although often resembling agnosticism, this takes the form that because morality is difficult to determine in certain situations (hence moral dilemnas such as lieing to protect Jews from the Nazis), the atheist will invoke a non-sequitor to assume that because of the lack of meaning, therefore is no god. I hate this argument for two reasons, because it's weak, and because it's an insult to moral realists who are playing into mainstream theists' hands, perhaps having formed the basis of this thought from theists' own approaches as a counter-response, a poor one at that. Also, the statement contradicts itself, because it objectively says that there is no objective meaning that can be found in the world. It's like saying 'this statement is false'.'There are likely to be aliens on other planets.' Another non-sequitor and one which many put too much stock in. I highly doubt in my lifetime we'll find extraterrestial aliens. Besides, it makes little sense that a god would create life on this planet with all of the other planets around. In fact, it makes less sense. I find it odd when theists are opposed to beliefs in aliens and atheists are in support of the belief in aliens, as though it would make their argument any better. Now, I'd like to hear your opinion.

I guess when people use contradictions in the Bible or event in the Bible that don't seem to make sense, to say that God doesn't exist. They are just disproving the Abrahamic God, not all Gods.helium_flash

It really what people believe in. Like I don't believe in a higher power. That is what I believe in.

what annoys me more is that their faith mostly lies in after life...they do what they do in this life only coz they want to go to heaven when they die..i might be off topic, but this fact drives me insane for !@#$ 's sake and i wanted to say it :P
