GS has given this game a 5.5 /10 for the PS3 version and a 6/10 for the 360 version..Even with the score not showing you can tell by reading the review for the HD collection that the collection scored low on GS.

Bad

  • Poor frame rate
  • No online integration
  • Clunky dialogue
  • Repetitive gameplay

Good

  • Responsive controls
  • Speedy and addictive combat

So no actual score? We should have more of these. Giving scores is dumb idea for contemporary games; it is even worse for remastered ports of old games where standards are different.

Unfortunate. After the great time I had with MGSHD, I was totally going to buy this. Not if its a broken mess though. No excuse when your porting a last gen game to a much more powerful console.

There's a score, but the review is glitched. The score will most likely be a 5 or 5.5.

If you really want this game, I'd suggest looking through other reviews. Who knows, they might have different opinions.

Fair enough. It was mostly a passing curiosity that had me even looking at it though. The same curiosity that saw me picking up Borderlands 2, The World Ends with You and Metal Gear collection. If most of the reviews say the game is a technical mess though, I'll be staying far away.

Once again a multiplatform release that's dragged down due to the hot garbage that is ps3. Can we, as a gaming community, just start a protest, or petition to permanently ban multiplats from the ps3?

Thats a shame. I was somewhat interested in trying these games out. Bad frame rate is a no go for me though so I will skip it.

I bought this game for the PS3, unaware of the issues. The FPS really is just disgustingly slow. I'm going to trade it in for the 360 version.

The PS3 version is much worse than the 360 version, I think it was an average of 15 frames worse off.

ZOE2 in HD at 60fps was a thing of dreams, but alas, it wasn't meant to happen. :/

As for the review, it's nice to see GS got someone who knows what they're talking about unlike with Silent Hill HD.

Slashkice

They should be forced to re-review the Silent Hill collection, seriously. Giving that a good score is a straight up lie.

I just find these HD remakes lazy and a waste of time. The games they release are almost always easily available elsewhere for much less. They hardly ever offer enough improvements to even make it worth it even if you don't own it already. And most of the time its very likely that you do.

This is actually worse than Splinter Cell Collection (6.0)? Highly doubt it.

All I cared about was the Vita version, which is in limbo right now with zero updates.

It's just pathetic how some of these collections turn out. They charge people for a version you can find better and cheaper on its previous platform.

So I still own the superior versions. Good to know. Best I invest in some PS2 component cables then as the majority of these remakes have been meh.

I think the score is a bit too low. A 7 or 6.5 for performance issues is ok, but a 5.5 because it doesn't have online, is too short and clunky stuff (why wasn't Heavenly Sword's score docked for being a 3 hour game with some performance issues and clunky gameplay?).

Also isn't Addictive combat a polar opposite of repetitive gameplay, and since it's a "short" game-- wouldn't that be a non issue if the overall gameplay is "repetitive" but addictive?

Anyway I don't really agree with the review, apart from performance issues. I do remember the game having local versus mode, but it was just a novelty at the time. It doesn't need to be online integrated, it's just a bonus for playing the game; along with the additional modes.

It is. And I wouldn't even know where to begin with NTSC regions. I doubt most of these games from the collections are hard to find like ZOE, which is available over here.

If you haven't played the games at all, I absolutely recommend picking up the PS2 versions. The games still hold up, 2nd Runner especially.

I watched a little gameplay the other day and I have to be honest I dont see the draw, but ait seems to have a pretty strong following.

I'm not sure what it is about used NTSC games, but they are worth so much more than PAL or NTSC-J versions. I paid, I think, $40 before shipping for a copy of Second Runner, and most I found at the time (on eBay) were pushing $60. It was a harder game for me to find reasonably priced. But damn, it's a fine game.

I don't think it hit "Greatest Hits" status so it is somewhat rarer than most desirable PS2 games. Edit: Then again, this was 2008 when I bought it. Before an HD version, hell, before HD remakes were even a thing.

I think it´s all about suply and demand, maybe a lot of those games are just easier to find in some PAL regions than NTSC,I know I never had any problem finding a copy of Ico or SotC even in stores and at fairly good prices(years after the actual releases,I bought a new copy of Ico for 15euros in 2007 and a new copy of SotC for 20e in 2009,both new at a GAME store,FNAC also had them for years),but those games seemed to be pretty rare on the US and of course the prices of used copies much, much higher.

I got SUPER lucky with NTSC ICO. Gamestop (at the time, EB Games) got a random trade in, didn't really know what it's value was, and sold it me for like $12 (CAD). Boxart for the NTSC version is fugly though. Wish I had a nice printer, then I'd print up a PAL version.
