Recent intelligence has escalated our plans and we have come to the decision to contact gamers about the dangers directly. Our ultimate goal has always been to protect the public from the horrific consequences we have foreseen, but it appears our mission to prevent it from occurring may have failed. It is imperative that you make every effort to prepare yourselves for the oncoming deadly game, so that you may survive the coming apocalypse.

An antidote for the game is predicted to be created, but much further down this timeline, and as such there is no defense from its effects. It will be most easily identifiable on Nintendo 3DS™ and PlayStation�Vita handheld entertainment system, though it is transmittable through the air so the spread may increase even more rapidly through the PlayStation�Store and Nintendo eShop.

Do not be tempted by familiar faces, fully voiced cinematics, multiple endings, or voices in both Japanese and English, as those are signs that the apocalypse is nigh. We suggest that you put extensive effort into improving your puzzle solving skills, as they will be vital to your survival.

Guys, this is the year that The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy VIIR, Shemue 3, and Zero Escape 3 were all announced and confirmed.

FF7 Remake being confirmed with a CG trailer by SE is the same has it not even existing

Zero Escape: 999 released on the Nintendo DS in 2009-2010. It was voted as the greatest DS game of all time by SW later.

The sequel was Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward, which released on Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita in 2012. It ended in a massive cliffhanger, before the series got cancelled due to low sales.

Three years later, the game has been resurrected.

Zero Escape 3 is coming out in Summer 2016. No platforms announced yet.

The games are a series of Escape the Room/puzzle visual novel games, with high concept pseudoscientific plots.

This one is being funded and published by Aksyss Games, which is a US publishing house. Almost certainly not mobile.

Even if it is, for a point and click, mobile is basically the perfect platform, I'll live.

Digital Sales must have been good. Then again Only the Digital version of the 3DS game is playable.

This is the exact wording they used for VLR- it's basically them confirming it will be available digitally in addition to at retail.

What a time to be alive. Does 999 have a digital release? I have VLR thru PS+ but still feel like I should get through 999 again first before working on that. And it would help get hype for this new one.

Glad that following that 3 month teaser was worth it. I'm not even mad that after all that it's still a year away. The fact they have finally confirmed it is awesome. I'll be getting the 3DS & Vita versions day 1 and I would buy them all if they release the trilogy on PC.

Any plans to make a speculation thread? I don't want to start throwing spoilers left and right, but am curious what people want to see in the final game.

I want to see a final game that goes back to the tense and creepy horror story vibe that the first game had that kept me on age. The first game's atmosphere was its biggest strength, and the second game threw all that out the window. Among many other things, that was one of the reasons I couldn't bring myself to care for VLR much.

Saw on the ITunes App Store there was 999 but I was a visual novel of it for $5. Probably not the best option then.

Not good at all- the puzzles are all gone, and while I don't care about that, the story of 999 is intrinsically dependent on the DS hardware itself. Best to just get this one!

The digital version fixes a lot of bugs that were in the retail version that Aksys never bothered fixing for some reason.
