Zelda BotW 2 is inspired by Red Dead Redemption 2. Form is temporary but class is permanent.

Specifically, the Legend of Zelda series' director, Eiji Aonuma, has told IGN that one of the development team's inspirations for the sequel was Red Dead Redemption 2. Responding to a question about which games were inspiring the team's younger members, Aonuma replied, "[Something] I did hear that a lot of people were playing was Red Dead Redemption 2."

Interesting. I absolutely love Breath of the Wild so I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how they might take that inspiration from Red Dead Redemption 2 and put it into Breath of the Wild 2.

I remember Aonuma mentioned Skyrim and Far Cry inspired the BOTW team.

Well I enjoyed RDR 2 a lot more than BOTW, so that could be a good sign :)

It would be completely fucked up of Nintendo to ban their developers from playing non-Nintendo games. Not to talk about bad for business if their developers didn't know anything about the highly praised games of their competition.

I can see two people in here, one wrote "movie zelda" and the other "long animations and hair tearing mechanics". Not much, nor was it especially childish.

Cool ^__^ RDR2 has some chemical interactions with objects that are done in more detail than other open world games, reminding me of the chemistry engine designed for BOTW. I bet they are intrigued by the fire tech specifically. It also tried to have some more natural interactions with NPC's, something that BOTW also did. Both games also have horsies. Though... hmmm.

This does hint at BOTW2's direction.

So much Red Dead Redemption 2 hatred. People really do get salty when they don't like something yet it still receives critical acclaim. The top 2 games in 2018 were God of War & Red Dead Redemption. Other people may have personal favorites but they got the most attention and got the most nominations and awards. Go cry somewhere else lol
