Your thoughts on the Overwatch beta

Since the Overwatch beta (stress test) is this weekend (20th-23rd) Blizzard issued invites to most of their NA and EU players.

A few matches in and this game already stomps all over Valves Team Fortress game, it's pretty sad a game that's in beta is better than a game that's been out for 8 years XD.

Haven't received invitation but watching gameplays from time to time. Looks epic. Hyped!

It's a Blizzard game, it will be good. I will try it when it launches.

None of the people i know got in. Thankfully, i myself have been in for a while.

But here's the kicker: you really want to play this game with friends. Matches in OW are not won by individual skill, no matter how much you think you will own on X-hero from watching gameplay videos. No matter how much you carry, if your team doesn't work together, you lose.

The UI needs some work and Zenyatta's Discord orb needs to be a skillshot instead of homing through fucking walls and that's about it.

The game's so polished already i don't know why it's coming out in June and not right goddamn now.

There is no NDA for the beta, you are free to stream and discuss about the game/beta for this weekend (they are even letting people have tournaments during the beta).

A friend wanted to give me the invite, but i don't want my low end laptop to jade me.

Yea the buy to play policy is gonna weed out the bads I believe (at least most of them), which honestly is always a good thing cause the people who want to play OW they are gonna shell out the cash for it.

Also the class system is pretty awesome too, don't think I've had this much fun a MP only shooter in awhile (probably since Killing Floor).

god forbid a game that Blizzard has had in the making for many years and had to salvage out of an mmo is better than an 8 year old source game...

the game has a pretty amazing art style but the gameplay looks pretty bland

This is day 1 for me, Blizzard is known for top notch quality and they take their sweet time on their games.

i got in but i'll wait for the console version way too backlogged on other stuff and having too much fun in this Elite Dangerous event. They are working up to first contact with this new community event kinda cool

Not really, it's a class based fps and if your team is nothing but supports or "dmg" then of course you're gonna get stomped. I've yet to see a hero that could clearly carry a team.

I didn't get a Beta invite, but I'm wondering what has people going apeshit over this FPS? Is it just the Blizzard name alone, or was there some feature reveals prior to any beta announcement showing what sets this shooter apart from the crowd?

@AdobeArtist: Its team based FPS meets MOBA. Plus the simplistic lore has people going crazy also, Blizzard really did a nice job with everything.

@Cloud_imperium: Ironically I find Blizzard pretty overrated, sure they make some decent games but they aren't even in my top 5 fav devs. But hey I said one positive thing about them and I'm a Blizzard fanboy XD.

It's a Team Fortress imitation AKA Brink 2.0, it's going to peak and die.

I'm bored of TF2, and Brink was really shit, so maybe this will be like the DOTA and LOL thing.

I don't know, I just don't see this going anywhere, it just has an Evolve vibe in terms of adoption and falloff, I don't feel it.

The game felt like Left 4 Dead with just a player Tank added as madatory.

People are really into this, like Starcraft level into it.

Calling out OPs, projectile speeds, abillity vs abillity and comparing heroes.

Question:

Since teamplay seems so important to winning a match, is there any way to communicate besides microphone or chat?
Like, is there a command rose or a key for voice commands like 'follow me', 'don't follow me', 'stop following me', 'I'm calling the cops now' etc?
There doesn't need to be, but I'm curious because I've heard nobody say anything about the communication in this game.

That is awesome. It's like they are doing everything right. Can't wait for the release.
