You can play games for free only on PC #lolpsn

When console gamers boast about their "free" games on psn and xbox live, it only provokes condescending smiles from PC gamers. Why console gamers avoid the fact that real "free games" are only on Steam. I am talking about Steam's free weekends. Every week Steam gives a new game to play during the weekend, all free, no subscription required. One pays nothing, rien, nada, nichego.

Yes, there is a downside that it's only during the weekend. But many people actually only have time to play games during weekends.So it's factually possible on PC to play all modern games and pay 0 money. so it basically put PC to the front on how cheaply one can game. You only need to buy a hardware, the rest is up to you.

And the list of games that passed by free weekends it's huge and awesome. And add to this a fact that sometimes some games are just given for free, like Battlefield 3 and Dead Space 2 were on Origin or Metro 2033 on facebook, etc.

Free isn't good. Steam sales are not that great, in reality. There's too much press behind it. It gets to a point where everybody knows when sales come and only buy games in this time frame.

As I mentioned in my original post, no you can't. But free is free. Can you keep playing "free" games on psn if you stop paying subscription ? Besides I know people that can finish an enire game in one weekend. So it's basically like a free rent.

So a free "rent" now. Well, at least your getting warmer!

PC has no games worth playing, PSN on the otherhand has great ones.

It was more of a general statement, and I'd attribute pc succeeding more to that of the ps4/x1 not meeting a lot of people's expectations. Just looking at the ps4 makes me want to build a pc.

You wouldn't be able to finish those games in only a couple days. Trying to squeeze 40 hour games like Borderlands 2 and The Witcher into one weekend isn't healthy.

Also, free weekend games usually restrict the type of content you can access. For example, Call of Duty won't let you play around with it's single player or co-op.

I mean kinda? What if I go on vacation this weekend though?

I think I actually prefer the $60 a year to get 2ish a month, I can play them whenever I want that way, and I've actually been pretty happy with the Xbone GwG since it's started- Guacamelee, Super Time Force, D4, Worms Battlegrounds, IDARB, and Rayman Legends have all been a good time. And I could play them whenever I wanted.

To answer the thread, you're pretty desperate if you're falling back on generally gimped versions of a game that are free for only a weekend.

I like Free Weekend on Steam, but this is not how you make it sound good.....

Anyone who thinks a free weekend adds up to owning a game for as long as you can own a game....is delusional.

Anyone comparing that....to spending $50....not $60 bucks a year and having that subscription paid off in 3 to 4 months and everything after that being....FREE....is not very bright.

Free Weekends aren't Free games. That's just a "Free Weekend".

There really is nothing to say other than your comparison is laughable. A free weekend is nothing more than an advertisement from the developer, A timed demo. It isn't a free game, it's a company telling you to try their product and imploring you to buy it.

Many of these were given entirely free (my gog Witcher 2 ,Payday 1, Sniper Elite V2 and L4D2 are free just from recent memory)
