The only thing so far to come of this supposed 'boost' is the announcement that Destiny on One will now have the same frame rate and resolution as the PS4. The question is, if Destiny can do it, why don't all the upcoming games like the Witcher 3 make similar announcements? Is destiny unique in it's ability to use these resources formerly required by Kinect?
No matter what they do a 7770 can't become a 8750 and ddr3 don't transform into ddr5. Unplugging a webcam changes nothing and this was only to gives lems hope (like the cloud/dx12), a lie.
I think ps4 fanboys care way more about this than actual x1 owners. As an owner of both, I don't see where the power difference is a big deal.

Same boat for me too. I have multiplat games on the X1 over the ps4 even with all this power bs. I prefer the X1 controller, UI and the online to the PS4's. Not to mention all my friend on live have all picked up X1's.. It's where my friends play.. I'll be getting a few PS4 exclusives but my multiplat machine this gen is the X1.. no one cares about this shit anymore.

The important part to know is they will always have to dumb down/limit PS4 version to achieve parity with Xbox One version. If they could push Xbox One then they could just as easily push PS4 more as it's the more powerful console with better hardware.

Whoever wrote that article is a f*cking moron. If the game developers disable the visual functions of Kinect, they will have access to 10% more GPU power.

Right, which is why developers are now looking into change resolution and performance of previous games that were released. lol!! It'll be interesting to see what devs say after DX12 drops.

go watch the cloud demo then say that again.
Even if it was, it's still 40% weaker than the PS4
no matter how many times you post it, the "50% more powah" line will still be bullshit.
Thank you.
Uhhh....... More computing resources yes, 10% gain, maybe in a lab test environment certainly not in a retail product, the PS4 is undisputedly the more powerful console, Sony are in the driving seat in this department this gen, but i think if you are willing to sit and dissect yield gains based on computing resources, may as well do yourself a favour and go and build a decent gaming rig.

no1 is looking anywhere the system is stuck at 792p-900p gaming for the next 7 years. The only thing you can do about it is deal with it. End of story!

Personally I don't feel like console owners can or should say anything about the power of a console or try to argue about it. 9/10 their fan boy idiots that actually don't know anything about hardware anyway, it's easy to just ignore those guys.
I have a gaming PC too, that could be why I don't care about the performance of console hardware. I don't need it. I'm into consoles for one or two things.. sports titles and a few FPS's.
You overclock ANY graphics card on PC by 10% and you'll be lucky to get 3-4 extra frames depending on how demanding the game is.
Anyone who expected wonders from this extra 10% needs to kicked in the nuts.

But cherry picking one thing doesn't equate to 50% overall more power. a car with 75 HP isn't 50% faster then a car with 50HP. a CPU with 3.0 GHz doesn't run 50% faster then one with 2.0GHz. Also cherry picking a few early games doesn't help. Using your theory I can say

Why didn't they make it 900p then considering it's only half the resolution of 1080p. I guess they couldn't get it their either. 792p should be achievable with the June SDK though.

exactly my point on if the other components match. But then the other components have a direct effect on power as well. what if you had a PS4 GPU but it has a PS2 CPU and DDR Ram would it still be 50% more powerful then an XO as it is? based on SW logic the answer is yes. But that's not reality. Nobody debates (well at least nobody smart) that the PS4 has a better GPU and is seeing better results so far but slapping a 50% more power number on it based on cherry picked data isn't accurate at all. Maybe If they games had 50% larger worlds, 50% more AI NPCs, 50% more lighting, 50% more textures, 50% more AA, 50% more FPS, 50% more resolution etc etc across the board you could make a valid argument. But when the games are identical in every way except resolution you can't say its 50% more power. It would be like saying since the games have th same framerate the power is equal. that's not accurate though, its just 1 cherry picked piece of data
No matter what they do a 7770 can't become a 8750 and ddr3 don't transform into ddr5. Unplugging a webcam changes nothing and this was only to gives lems hope (like the cloud/dx12), a lie.
You do know how close the performance is on those cards right? You know you'd be lucky to get a 6fps difference lol Also, DDR3 and DDR5 are different and are more useful in different scenarios. There is a reason all PC's still use DDR3 combined with DDR5 RAM, so I wouldn't directly compare them.
The Xbox is weaker, certainly, but as an owner of both you wouldn't know by just sitting down and playing them both. The hardware difference is really small, and at the end of the day PS4 games will run with a couple extra frames to spare. Both consoles will be 1080p by 2015. The cloud is also a very real and functional thing (see the Crackdown tech demo) and DX12 should help with certain things but overall isn't a performance upgrade.
Edit: Also I don't even think you compared the right cards, a 7770 is a desktop GPU and an 8750m is a mobile GPU.

again "other components to match" and even then the answer is no. if i take a care that has a 150HP engine and goes 0-60 in 8 seconds and then I drop in a 300HP engine, does that mean it'll do 0-60 in 4 seconds? The answer is no.
and as far as those 3 go again its all what data you want to pull to prove a point, but none is accurate. Bungie just said the June update will allow them to be 1080p on the XO, obviously these games aren't using that update. As time goes on games will look better. that's how consoles work.
I find Engadget to be usually reliable tech wise they don't have the best writers per se at least it's a little more credible then gizmodo, but In short Xbox will still have some great exclusives
@darkangel115: proof those games aren't?
And if you put a 300hp engine in obviously it wouldn't do 4 seconds if the torque stays the same what's your point?
My point was that 1 spec cherry picked doesn't give an accurate performance measure of a machine that has many parts. HP =/= performance. Every machine is bottle necked to its weakest component (a chain is only as strong as its weakest link) So picking out 1 thing doesn't give an accurate measure. Dropping a 400HP engine in a geo metro doesn't make it a muscle car. It'll probably fall apart if you tried to take it over 100 mph.
engadget is the geek of all geeks. very credible site. if no one here ever been to their site... do yourself a favor and go there you will see why they are so popular. I go there to check out their reviews and hands on with many of the cool gadgets.
I think ps4 fanboys care way more about this than actual x1 owners. As an owner of both, I don't see where the power difference is a big deal.

This goes for all xbots.
While I am inclined to agree to that logic at first, it's also worth noting that Destiny is a PS360 game as well. I think about it more, and it's hard to forget that Destiny is a cross-gen developed PS360 game and not really a great indicator for Xbone or PS4 visuals due to the PS360 holding both machines back.
After playing the Alpha, the first thing I noticed was how Destiny's graphics were very underwhelming, coming off as a PS360 game. I wouldn't take any game that was designed for PS360 a sign of what the Xbone and PS4 are capable of. The newer machines are just being used to play the same game with bonus effects and some resolution bump. Destiny is early, I'll grant it that, but visually it's underwhelming for a next gen title. It's visuals are competent at best. Yeah, it's early and it's an MMO, but it's also on PS360.
Furthermore, as far as Destiny is concerned, Bungie was already recently interviewed and said the game was designed to be the same across the platforms, further cementing my point. They aren't trying to use extra horsepower to create PS4/Xbone experiences, rather Bungie is actively trying to ensure everyone gets the same experience on old gen and new gen machiens alike, and they are juggling four machines. This is from a studio that all generation made games for just one machine, the Xbox 360. Who knows how greatly this affects their resources. There is a learning curve in place here and let's not forget their goal to make sure the game is samey on all for machines. Bungie's Goal: Deliberately striving for parity on all four platforms. Using Destiny as some sort of bar won't work for various reasons, but I'll post Bungie's quote below.
Jason Sussman (Destiny artist): "I could get really technical, but I’d bore you to death. A lot has to do with performance. We’re cross-platform, so we had to be very delicate with all four consoles, making sure they have the same experience, that it looks as good as it possibly can on all these consoles. A lot goes into that, from geometry to textures to post effects to particles to how many players you get on the screen. We’re always balancing that out to make sure everyone gets the same experience"
The only thing so far to come of this supposed 'boost' is the announcement that Destiny on One will now have the same frame rate and resolution as the PS4. The question is, if Destiny can do it, why don't all the upcoming games like the Witcher 3 make similar announcements? Bungie wanted to make both versions identical.
The issue here is not if X1 made it to 1080p/60fps or something , is how much Bungie "downgraded" PS4 version in order to be the same as X1.
It doesnt make sense but it does at the same time , specially IF ( i dont really know ) game offers cross server action between consoles/PC or what not.
So with that being said , i really think they downgraded graphics to achieve that and they kept those graphics down for PS4 as well even if PS4 could play with better graphical quality on 1080p/60 fps or whatever.
