Phil Spencer shares his thoughts on a number of industry topics.

Xbox executive Phil Spencer has had a busy week on Twitter. After answering questions about Project Scorpio and backwards compatibility, weighed in on Horizon Zero Dawn and the health of the Xbox ecosystem. Now, he's commented on the console sales race, why Microsoft hasn't made a dedicated handheld gaming device, and more.

On the subject of competition with the PlayStation 4 (a recent report claimed the PS4 is outselling the Xbox One 2:1), Spencer said gaming is "not [a] race between two consoles." Here is the full tweet, which Spencer sent as part of a continuation of his comments about the Xbox brand having its best console generation ever right now with Xbox One:

I like that he takes time to respond to us regular folk. After scalebound the Xbox has a lot of work to do if the want me to consider buying a Scorpio. I hope they bring the heat at e3.

The only exclusive big enough to care about is Horizon and for us xbox one guys its the only AAA PS4 got since Uncharted 4 You guys are talking about games, where the majority of Playstation fans don't even care they exist- Nioh and Yakazu. That's fairly weak calling Mighty Nintendo a kid in a special class. Just sayin. :P

I'm not sure any lem actually said there was a lack of exclusives on the PS4.... It sort of feels like you're making up threats from the other side so you can try to rub it in their faces, but fail to bring the rage.

Phil seems like a good dude who genuinely cares about gaming, but is working with his hands tied.

Should probably team up with Sony or Nintendo where his efforts could actually pay off.

I do my best man. Always looking out for the fellow gamers. No need to worship plastic....just worship the great games and the hobby we all cherish. Xbox doing the best it has done since their inception is in thanks to the almighty Phil. Kaz should take notes.

Why tell us? His twitter handle is right there. He answers questions more than many others. Why assume? Stop talking shit ? and just do it.

Yeah, Phil is a really cool dude and luckily instead of him working just for "N" or "S" and only doing an individual company some good, he's with MS doing the whole VG industry good with stuff like BC, Win10 buy once, play anywhere, etc. For the gamers, jazz. :P

Phil seems to really enjoy Nintendo, good for him, I agree they seem good for the industry.

Imagine an industry with just a PS4 monopoly, 100% would quit gaming and so would millions of other people.

Nintendo and MS are vital.

Think again lem. The industry with just the PS2 thrived and Sony created possibly the greatest console ever without so much competition. An industry with just M$ would be sad and nothing but HaloGearsFlopza crap each year. Only dudebros and their shitty limited taste would survive. We don't need M$, it is irrelevant. Where are Xbox's AAA exclusives?

Since Sep- October 2016 to Feb 2017 MS released 4 xbox one AAA titles. I bought 3 of them FH3, Gears 4, and Halo Wars 2.

They will just ignore you when you give them the answer.

I mean I highly doubt he predicted in 2004/2005 that handhelds would be what it has become in 2010-presently.

I'm actually impressed with Phil Spencer. He took time out of begging for games in Japan to answer questions on Twitter. He made shit up with greatest lineup, but at least he made the time to lie.

Gears 4 is 84 on Metacritic only a few points below the score Horizon zero dawn got. Halo 5 is 84 and Fh3 is in low 90s.

If you listen to what 1 reviewer says about game then you are an idiot. Games are reviewed by 50 different sites different people with different opinions.

LOL last gen MS the only thing they talked about was sales and how they are in first place. Now that they are second, it's no longer about winning. So you meant to say you purchased 2 AA exclusives and 1 AAA.

Indeed, I have 4 physical games for mah Xbox (Halo MC, Sunset Overdrive, Rare Collection and Quantum Break) and some digital releases. Scorpio will at least run 3rd party games the best, so the first party games can be lacking for all I care.

Halo Wars 2 is a flop. Perhaps you're enjoying it but the general consensus is that it is average.

Forza is available on PC. It is not an exclusive. Same with Gears of War 4. I can play them on my PC. I do not require an Xbox to play them.

Technically it's a Windows 10 Exclusive and behind UWP.

There are rumors that the Xbox Dashboard is coming to Windows 10, it will most likely only support UWP games? So indirectly there are third party consoles

So when Microsoft releases a game on PC and Xbox one that's a bad thing? Cows are getting more ridiculous by the day, grasping for straws... You can say that you don't need an xbox because you've got a PC but that has nothing to do with this. This is about Microsoft releasing great games in the xbox, which they did.

Xbox needs games not UWP and The Cloud

Agreed. Phil keeps saying he knows they need more games and new IPs but all his words are just hot air. The Xbox brand is still 3 franchises.

The Cloud is that special place M$ created where games go to get cancelled and lems go to dream about the cancelled games.

Not sure what you are talking about. I don't know you, I don't care about your duties, and why would I care if you replied a minute from now, an hour from now or 50 years from now? And replied to what? No idea what you are talking about.

BTW, Forza Horizon 3 (not all Forza's...FM 1-6 are not on PC, nor is FH1 and FH2) is on PC (not to mention, the majority of people in the world don't have a PC capable of running Gears 4 nor FH3). Not to mention, console gamers don't care what is on PC. And the consensus is that Halo Wars is a hit 2, and is an 81/100 so you are wrong there as well.
