Xbox 360 vs. PS3 Slim comparison (56K warning)

I have played almost 5 hours straight on Tuesday. These are not NEGATIVE remarks, but rather observations. I have nothing negative to say about the PS3 slim. The unit is clean looking, and I'm quite happy with mine.

-So far, I have noticed that the top of the PS3 is HOTTER than the regular 40GB/80GB. This didn't take 5 hours to notice, but rather 30 minutes. It may be due to smaller size of the PS3.

-However there seems to be more heat EXITING the PS3 at the same time. I guess the unit is working efficiently to re-direct the heat out of the console itself.

-The unit was rather quiet, even compared to my older PS3. Invisible compared to the Xbox 360.

-The EJECT function of the PS3 slim, is rather noisy compared to older PS3's. Also is the induction of CD's/DVD's/BR's into the console itself.

-The avail. space of the HDD is 97GB. Quite down from 120GB. The 40GB used only 3GB that is reserved for system operations.

I'm sorry but that ps3 slim looks so ugly. It looks so cheap without the piano black and chrome. Then look at those buttons, ugh. *barf* Im glad I have an 80gb fatty.

Why couldn't Sony just use a basic shape?

I was surprised that they made a slim PS3 already, obviously it was an absolute necessity this time because they had to make it cheaper.

So it's the size of the 360 with 2/3 the height?

Anyway, it looks fine to me. No idea why people find it ugly...

IMO the fat one looked better but the $299 pricetag would be nice if I didnt want to pay that much for a console pretty much identical to the 360

The fat PS3 looks like a beast ready to do some work :P

Dang. I thought the Slim was smaller than that. It's about the same size as the 360, and that ain't exactly small. It is quieter though.. and why is the 360 upside down in the first two pics. Could anger some 'fanboiz'.thirdykal

I think one thing a lot of people are failing to notice is that the 360 has a giant power brick as well, the PS3 does not...

u never get the space thats labeled.. my 160 has only 149 available

Looks like the perfect size to me: No too fat that its hard to store/transport but not so small that you fear you might break it by sneezing (PS2 Slim)

It's quite normal not to get the full capacity, but a 23GB loss? On top of that, the total space avail. is shown as 111GB, not 120.

As in 97/111GB avail.

As in 97/111GB avail.

Basicly 120GB = 120,000,000,000 / 1,073, 741, 824 = 111 GB left. so you lose 9 GB.

Lets say you have a 320GB Hard drive like i do.

320,000,000,000 / 1,073, 741, 824 = 298, So you lose 22GBs.

either way 97GB is plenty enough for me.
