xbox 360 vs ps3 biggest competition in the history of gaming?

Has there ever been a bigger rivalry in the history of gaming? These systems match up to eachother more perfectly than any other system pair in terms of power, games, install base, target audience, online. The competition between these systems is like watching the world cup football finals, I love it.

I like to think of my PS3 as Cthulhu...not sure why but i just do. Saying it is only a beast could mean anything.

It's the most interesting competition, I think, since SNES vs. Genesis - but nothing could ever quite match that one, even if SNES won the hardware sales war somewhat handily.

Of course, both 360 and PS3 are fighting for "second place", but they are fighting for first place among the technologically-advanced HD consoles.

Before this it was GENESIS Vs. SNES, and this is a much, much tighter race.

Saga Vs. Nintendo was much bigger IMO. Primarily because they tended to attack each other more than promote themselves.

I don't think so. Genesis vs SNES seemed much more heated and exciting... especially when the 2 console in this "fight" are tens of millions out of the running already. Fighting for first has got to be a better battle than fighting not to be last.

really glad to be part of it. I'm really afraid this is going to be the last generation of traditional gaming consoles. Things like motion control and cloud gaming are going to change the gaming scene massively.

As an aside, in the case of both 360 vs. PS3 and Genesis vs. SNES, the competition was/is much less interesting in Japan. They seem to lean clearly in favor of the PS3, just as they did the SNES.

(Although nowadays all they want to do is play handhelds).

To my knowledge it is. Its a good thing for cows and lemmings though since both companies have to try harder to gain $$$ which means better games,consloes,online etc.
