1. I didnt say that (passing in months) so why are you bringing that up when replying to me?

2. Why then should PS3 be "catching" 360 at all then if not for some reason?

It seems to me, and I'm sure you will correct me if I'm wrong, you are attempting to discredit Sony's ability to fight back from lunching a year behind with a more expensive console and less advertising and still be able to maintain a larger base then MS. Regardless of what your perception of victory is, those facts remain.

God you cows are experts at making up excuses.
No ones discrediting Sonys ability to fight back, but all these excuses as to why its in last places are stupid. And don't try and tell me people aren't trying to discredit Microsofts success this generation as well.
Considering how huge the Playstation brand was back in 2005, Microsoft did extremely well to get the Xbox to where it is now.
And what exactly is your perception of victory? Do you think Sony came into this gen after the hugely successful PS1 and PS2 thinking Oh, as long as we sell as much as the 360 its a win? Definitely not. Catching the 360 in sales was Sony saving their asses. Compare that to Microsoft who have launched a console that has surpassed its predessor 3 times in sales, stolen a big chunk of marketshare and strengthened the Xbox brand and I think its clear who the winner was.
....and you lems like to think anyone who doesnt agree with you are cows.
It was and is impossible for ANY of the consoles to generate the success that PS2 had, and probably never will. If PS2 was the gauge for this gens success then wouldnt every console have failed? Even the closest (Wii) Fell sort by over 50 million. If you remember PS1 sales topped around 100M so if PS3 sells 80-90 mil what would that be? If it outsold or will outsell the 360 its still a failure?
No, I think its clear that YOU dont have the correct perspective on this outcome. You think MS went in thinking "oh, as long as we lead in sales for most of the console life but lose to our closest competitor and be last in the end" its a win? Definitely not.
Put it into a simple equation if you ever want to see how ridiculous your rational is
MS + (70M+) + 7 years = Win
Sony + (70M+) + 6 years = Fail
I guess I could best sum it up this way...
You are using the excuse of Sony's previous success and MS's previous failure to cushion the truth that MS has not and probably will never "win" a generation.
Sorry, but I was very much aware of Sonys arrogance at the beginning of this gen. Like any business, they were definitely aiming higher.
And I did not use the PS2 as a gauge for a generations success, I used it as a gauge for Sonys success. Simply put, they lost marketshare and sold less this gen. Microsoft (and Nintendo) gained marketshare and sold more. Its pretty simple. My perspective is perfectly sound. I think Microsoft went into the gen saying we have to do much better, and they did. (ps, going by official numbers the 360 is still second, don't get ahead of yourself)
