XBOX 360 sells 75.9M units!

I feel like I already answered that question but I will again if you first go to MS website and tell me what it says, verbatim, when you put your curser over total sales for 360 in the quarterly report.

Please, the PS3 was supposed to have passed the 360 within months of being released, not years. That first year the 360 not only had the RROD, but it was also competing against the fictional uberPS3 that was to blow everything else away and make the 360 look like "the xbox 1.5"...etc (ie sony's hype machine), which was also supposed to be coming "Spring 2006" Before this gen the PS3 was supposed to blow away a flawlessly launched 360. Now the PS3 arguably "catching" the 360 6 years down the road AFTER the RROD issues, all the while cutting price and bleeding money while NOT forcing MS to do the same and allowing them to rake in the dough is a success? I guess if you lower expectations far enough eventually you can claim some sort of victory.Steppy_76

I think it did. I mean i know i'm a single case. But I had to buy 2 360s. My disc drive broke out of warranty- MS wanted 250 to fix it (Mind you this was 08ish?) Second one just bit the dust after 3-4 years.Animal-Mother

It was and is impossible for ANY of the consoles to generate the success that PS2 had, and probably never will. If PS2 was the gauge for this gens success then wouldnt every console have failed? Even the closest (Wii) Fell sort by over 50 million. If you remember PS1 sales topped around 100M so if PS3 sells 80-90 mil what would that be? If it outsold or will outsell the 360 its still a failure?

Sorry, but I was very much aware of Sonys arrogance at the beginning of this gen. Like any business, they were definitely aiming higher.

And I did not use the PS2 as a gauge for a generations success, I used it as a gauge for Sonys success. Simply put, they lost marketshare and sold less this gen. Microsoft (and Nintendo) gained marketshare and sold more. Its pretty simple. My perspective is perfectly sound. I think Microsoft went into the gen saying we have to do much better, and they did. (ps, going by official numbers the 360 is still second, don't get ahead of yourself)

Congrats to the XBOX360... They fought smart to get here.  Hope they dig up some magic for next gen.  I want to be wowed by someone... I'm still waiting.
