You are misleading people. The guy makes no mention of MP3. He only says that it won't work as a Media Center Extender.
So, if this holds true, neither NEXT-GEN console will support MP3 playback.
+The PS4 also won't support DLNA.
+The XB1 also won't support Windows Media Extender.
True Next-Gen, apparently, is all subscription internet-streaming services and very little on-console computation outside of games.
Awesome.

@waltefmoney: Well, we'll get confirmation soon enough:

Gotta not be so quick to jump to conclusions :) I know you Cows are on a CoD high right now, but wait until something is confirmed before jumping off the cliff :)

Dont see Waltermoney making a thread about this lol. Major ownage.
The first Tweet was recanted.
What is WME anyways? I always thought it was just a frontend for DLNA (a front end still based around menus like regular DLNA). As long as DLNA is still there, I'm good.
I updated the title, pending MajorNelson's confirmation.

Windows Media Extender - lets you stream media (music, videos, etc...) from your Xbox to windows or any other WME device on your network.

WDE is a device that streams directly from Windows Media Center. It uses the same interface. Windows Media Center was dropped a long time ago though and hasn't been updated in years. It's not on Windows 8 either.
@Netherscourge: So it's just DLNA front-end like I thought. What you described is literally DLNA, except DLNA is supported on a bunch of stuff that isn't WME compliant.
So the 3DS is the only gaming system next gen that supports MP3?
Lawl
Nope. If you are going to handhelds then the MP3 support list also includes the Playstation Vita.
You seemed aware of the Vita's Music prowess in this other thread two hours ago.
"Cool, I don't care. If I want to play music, I have my computer, my phone, my iPod, my iPad, my 3DS, my Vita, my old game consoles, my actual music player..."
Granted, I'm aware you didn't mention MP3s. Just dropping off info.

1. I'm not a cow. I'm just buying the better console, just like I bought a 360 last time.
2. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I'm just re-tweeting insider's info. I have no ego. I'm not going to have a meltdown like XBOunity.
;)
If PS4 isn't doing it at launch I doubt the One will, either. Most likely will get patched later. Pretty disappointing Sony dropped that ball.

Ah, good. I haven't actually put music on my Vita, and I know everything goes onto it through the Content Manager so I wasn't aware of what formats it supports.
Screw shitty MP3. I want lossless support which consoles have never had. Go big or go home. Luckily I can still enjoy with my headphones through my Astro Mixamp.
I can't believe MS didn't include WME in the X1...that's just ridiculous! It's running a variant of Windows 8 and even the X360 had this. O'well...I'll just stick to PS3 Media Server *ahem*
@charizard1605: vita supports it too and custom soundtracks for many games. Don't know why it's not in ps4 and probably not xbone. Doesn't matter to me as I have stero and I am KEping my ps3 SHOCK.. Next to my ps4, unlike many it seems. Why would I get rid of my 100+ gaming library for that system where I only beat 5% of the titles?
I would be upset if vita didn't have this, because that is a portable self contained unit. Ps4 n xbone sits in ur living room , not a big deal

Its not a big deal. Windows Media Center is old and slow anyway. MS realized it was a dying product and stopped updating it a long time ago. Running the 360 against TVersity via DLNA is so much better. As long as the XBone supports DLNA I'm great.

I actually use Media Server on my 360 or PS3 media server.
Not enthused with the lack of media capabilities all of a sudden and it's just all so they can push more monthly payments on us for subscriptions. All I'm going to do is use HDMI and Optical mixes with my Receiver and TV. When I want custom soundtracks I'll just use my 360 or PS3 and have music coming out either the TV or the Receiver with the game audio on the other. As for media streaming, if the neither do that then it's good I'm keeping my PS3 and 360.
Sony can, and probably will add that feature later on, they just want you to use they're own music service. I really doubt the majority of gamers out there plays music while playing games anyways.
