WoW up to 10 million subscribers, from 7.4 million

Warlords of Draenor, WoW's fifth expansion, launched last Thursday. If you have been playing the past week you've probably noticed how many people are online, and how long the server queues are for the most populated realms. While WoD itself may have had the worst launch of any expansion, the actual content is fantastic, and it seems server issues weren't enough to keep nearly three million people from resubscribing.

Personally I never thought WoW would shoot up to ten million or above, but it has. So much for WoW being close to dying. Guess people were sick and tired of pandas.

Nostalgia bump perhaps?

It always happen with a new expansion. I think i gotta start play again soon myself, just waiting some time for servers to be working and i dont have to que to play. Got many other games to play right now.

Pretty much expected. People thought the game going down to 6.8 million actually meant something. It was a whole year without new content, expansions always bring people back. WoW is here to stay for a while.

The expansion is very good too, best one in a while I'd say. Shooting for another glad title this arena season before I pick up a PS4 next year.

I'd say it's probably the best expansion for WoW so far. Even better than Wrath of the Lich King.

Same number that was active at MoP's launch. It'll be interesting to see if it can keep that number or if it'll drop like Mists did 6 months later.

Don't know how the expansion itself is since I quit. Too much other stuff to play and I don't care for the setting.

Good to see they're investing all their cash back into the gaming industry

It's a good expansion so far. Definitely better than Cataclysm or Mists.

Don't subscribers always jump up when an expansion comes out

This is the biggest jump in subscribers for any expansion. The link I posted in OP shows WoD's jump in subs is at least three times higher than Wrath/TBC's jump in subs.

I guess much of that comes from general dissatisfaction with MoP and the absurd 14-month drought of content between 5.4 and WoD's release. Still, there was a lot of hype for WoD.

I've seen the queues for logging in, and it's pretty insane. Shame I never got into WoW.

Think that's the biggest jump for a new expansion since burning crusade/ wrath of the lich king. Not surprising though, cataclysm and pandaland was trash.

well, they did just release that instant level 90 expansion with that shitty pre-rendered CGI they've been advertising all over, guess it paid off

everyone will be paying $50 for it not to mention $15/month, that's gonna be big money

good thing I never touched this heroin, otherwise I'd be wanting my money's worth and be playing this and only this and never get around to playing other things

It's not a TF2 Clone. And you can stop being jealous of PC's lead over consoles every year.
