Worst QTE of all time?

It has to be Castlevania Lord of Shadow's Titan boss fight in Sanctuary of Titans - chapter 2.

I'd say Skorge battle in Gears of War 2 is second worst.

Overall, I think QTEs are the worst thing that happened to gaming. Especially shitty ones that don't give you any kind of feedback if you do something wrong: you try doing them faster - you fail, you try doing them slower - you fail, you try pushing the button earlier - you fail, you try pushing the button later - you fail.

I've just wasted almost one hour for the final sequence in Castlevania in which you finish off this rock Titan, I know that I used to spend 2 hours on Skorge battle in Gears of War 2, and it was probably even more annoying, but still this shitty Titan battle takes the cake.

QTEs should die - someone should simply finish them off, nuke from the orbit, but without any button prompts.

The ones in Heavenly Sword.

The timing is just weird as hell.

Resident Evil 4 the stupid boulders, way to kill a speed run. And not QTE but the button mashing doors in God of War series hurt my thumb

President Evil 5 the final battle (Chris punches a giant boulder and Shiva hangs off a ledge)

and President Evil 6.... All the QTEs (Contextual button prompts don't count).

Heavy Rain.... Only the QTE's that required me to have three hands.

oh yeah... President Evil 4's Knife Fight was the worst !

Press X to Jason

I think Kayran boss battle in The Witcher 2 required you to take part in a QTE sequence which was also annoying.

Tomb Raider - got to love it when they don't actually put the prompts on the screen.

When Lara's involved, I'm sure you press all the buttons though Freedom ;)

That's for damn sure.

Ninja Gaiden 3 easily. TN literally broke the battle system just because of the QTE's. But I don't want QTE's to go away, they are awesome in God of War.

The PC version doesn't have a specific prompt, just a generic symbol. You have to remember which button is assigned to it, it doesn't tell you... which defeats the purpose of the QTE. The human brain cannot respond that quickly.

It's what ruined the game for me.

Oh, when you're not using a controller.

That sucks.

Battlefield 3 did the same thing, except completely opposite. It says the keyboard button even when you are using a controller. I could not play the game. I finally lost it when you get asked about some pilot your character never met then you are randomly zooming around in a jet.

Also, I need an excuse to post this.

Is this real? Does it really play that music and fade out? That might just be the best ending of any game ever.

Man, that is just wrong. Can't believe they just pull that shit.

Right? :p

Yeah, as far as I know that is real.

Fuck Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker's torture sequence. A stain on an otherwise great game. Button mashing that fast on a handheld, especially a PSPgo with its flatass face buttons?

Fucking hell.

The Deathstroke fight in Arkham Origins, not hard, just irritating.

Spiderman 3's QTE's really pissed me off back when that was new.

That one in Heavy Rain.

And when I say one, I actually mean the whole game.

greatest song ever

I was about to post this.

I finished the entirety of RE6 today. Song still makes me laugh.

#33 Posted by turtlethetaffer (16675 posts) -

I thought having to punch the boulder in RE5 took far, far too long. Murders the hand.

#34 Posted by JangoWuzHere (16125 posts) -

I'm not sure if its the worse, but a lot of the quick time events in RE6 are pretty terrible. Many of them don't give you enough time to react or require you to wiggle the stick at insane wiggle speeds.

#35 Posted by lamprey263 (23170 posts) -

the GTA IV: Lost & Damned club house arm wrestling QTE... fucking terrible, it's damn near designed to ruin your controller by making you thrash the analog

#36 Posted by Jankarcop (8976 posts) -

Console games all have bad QTE

#37 Posted by caseystryker (5405 posts) -

QTE's are so great.

#38 Edited by harry_james_pot (10560 posts) -

Definitely Tomb Raider. It showed symbols instead of buttons.. >__>

#39 Posted by Basinboy (11056 posts) -

BF3 some very terrible ones

Luckily I haven't played some of the aforementioned games

Never understood the hate for this. Resident Evil is great not only because of the horror elements but because of the ridiculously over the top campyness. Some Resident Evil fans seem to be under the impression it's the Seventh Seal.

You presume too much. I don't posted it because I hate it, I quite enjoy RE5 actually. I posted because it's funny.

Resident Evil 6 is the living embodiment on how to make the worst QTEs in gaming history

#46 Posted by aroxx_ab (9276 posts) -

Wasnt it "God of war" that started this QTE-crap on Ps2?

Shenmue, was the first one I can think of. It also showed up on a bunch of Sega's arcade shooters. RE4 was the first really big one though with the knife fight, boss fights, and the boulder.

In RE5 on professional.
