With Blizzard dead and Bioware in turmoil, is Bethesda #1?

Give it a rest guys....

God of War 3, Mass Effect 2, and RDR are all dreadfully dull and tedious.

Ly_the_Fairy
Super Mario Galaxy 2 definitely deserved the GOTY in that year. Sadly, the journalists were to chickened out to accept that they had to give the award to the sequel of already GOTY game of 2007, a Nintendo one at that.

Lies and slander. Mass Effect 2 is one of the most overrated games I've ever played in my life.

It's not worse than RDR. It just isn't. I know ME2 is flawed, but for every flaw ME2 had RDR has and worse.

:| I don't even know how you can make that argument.

Yep. Things like having a job which got me a part on a TV show proved to be more fortuitous

I love the support Bethesda gives to their modding community, and respect it immensely; but the mechanics, story, va, ugliness(w/o mods), bugs... they're just a mediocre developer.

Also, in your second paragraph, why do you mention Bio'Shock'(Irrational Games) when you started it off by talking about Bio'Ware'?

Rocksteady needs to make a game that isn't Batman. Though with what they have done with Batman, I'm extremely curious how it will turn out.

Do you think ME2 has bad gameplay? RDR has clunky running, autoaim, and you spend half the game mashing the A button to make your horse go. Do you think the story in ME2 was bad? RDR is viciously hypocritical, lacks any character for the player to relate to, and is so wildly unfocused it manages to spend 5 hours in another country for no reason.

The Blizzard we grew up with is no more. While Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3 remain high-water marks in gaming, the cash cow that was WoW attracted too many bean counters who systematically ruined Blizzard, culminating in the most disappointing video game of all time: Diablo 3. Don't bother getting your hopes up for Titan, which will have facebook connections and God knows what other casual crap in it. Blizzard is dead.

Bioware seems to be going through internal struggles of its own, and Bioshock Infinite is more of a wait-and-see than it is a definite Day One purchase for anyone who's been paying attention to all the important people bailing out on the project. I'm cautiously optimistic but I'll wait to see what GAMERS, not crappy review sites, have to say about the game before buying it.

Bethesda, on the other hand, just made a new Skyrim DLC that is already getting AAA scores. Fallout 3 and Skyrim are two of the best games of this gen, hands down. If you disagree you're either a 10 year old Sheep or a CoD knuckle-dragger - period. Bethesda is probably working on Fallout 4 as you read this, which should get every red blooded gamer hyped!

So... is Bethesda the best developer left standing? I think so...

trollop_scat

 bethesda can't really even be called a devloper when they leave their games full of glitches. The PC community has to do have the work to mold the pile of **** they try to sell into an actual game. The console gamers just straight up get screwed. Bethesda is terrible so :lol:no

I gag at the thought of anyone thinking either Bioware or Bethesda were ever near Blizzard status.

Ly_the_Fairy

So much butthurt at Bethesda being the best developer this generation. They are single handedly pushing the RPG genre forward with sandbox design. Blizzard has always been overrated, kinda like the Nintendo of PC gaming; they make very polished games but they hardly innovate anything.

Skyrim is the best RPG of this generation.

Arena and Daggerfall are free on Bethesda's website.

I tried Daggerfall a couple years ago, and it's SOOOOO CONFUSING O_O

There are unkillable mobs in the first dungeon you try to escape from :P

I eventually got the hang of it, but I never finished my playthrough. I was just too overwhelmed.

Only play it if you have a nice basement cave you can dwell in for the next 3 months or so doing nothing but playing Daggerfall, and occasionally sleeping.

I gotta agree with Blabadon, and say RDR is terrible.

It has all the control flaws from GTA 4, with even worse driving mechanics. The mission structure is even more tedious than GTA 4, since half of all the levels forced you to take 5 minute horse rides to some location.

The pacing is awful too. The beginning moves slower than a snail, and the Mexico part was the most blatant padding ever. Also not a fan of the missions once you get to the farm. It's basically the beginning in a new area.

Daggerfall was soulless and Morrowind had the clunkiest and most immersion breaking combat in any game made by Bethesda. Take off those rose tinted goggles. Ew. RDR was better written, had better sound design, better voice acting, better environments, and better encounter design. The gameplay in both games is sub-par, but everything surrounding that gameplay is better in RDR.

Blizzard's dead?! Compared to Bioware (EA's lapdog) and Bethesda (the developer incapable of making polished games)?! OH MY SIDES. WoW is still the king of the MMO industry, as is Starcraft II for the RTS genre. Oh, and MoP >>>>> Guild Bores 2.
